I don't know about "no favours", the guy's reputation was established from a very early age when he'd habitually retire, take MTO's etc. and extended through the enthusiastic exploration of medical supports. He is what he is and I don't think he did anything in the final to change that. I think it was Andy Murray who eventually saw that there was a lot of gamesmanship going on with the apparent medical collapses on Court being nothing more than play acting.

The only contradiction in the guy is that he does all this and still resents the fact that the vast majority of fans think he's 2nd class. He should embrace the facts and get on with it - he made the choice to win like that rather than play within the spirit of the rules, and lose.

To be fair Nadal is probably worse imo. Yet get full crowd  (or ladies at least) support.  To me it is mostly down to tennis style.

Perhaps. I put Rafa's popularity down to

- the ladies like him
- he was the foil to Federer
- Federer & Nadal come as a pair, even to the extent of the bromance aspects

Djokovic is just the third leg without anything specially attractive in game or personality to arouse emotions, unless those from the Country of origin (Andy Murray was a bit the same, coming from another Country with a substantial inferiority complex).

We’ve been through this before Tenez. Rafa’s games are fun to watch because he hits great hot shots and induces his opponent to hit flashy winners.

It’s your guilty pleasure. Let’s not forget Rafa on the comeback from injury break in 2013 was playing Vine Del Mar 250. Many on this forum stayed awake to watch his matches at some ungodly hour in the UK.

Nadal is the same as Djok  He's a cheat and a baseline bore capable of winning only on modern slow surfaces.
