Fed does seem to be warmed up, starting to look more like big versus little brother.

This is what I was saying. He plays his best v Federer. He inspires him. And since it is not about slugging it out Ninja finds it more fun.Jahu wrote:So ninja decides today is the day to play his best tennis of last 3 years, bitch.

Was thinking exactly the same - as well as the headband they even have a similar style of reaching out for their forehand, neck kinked to one side.

Maybe Uniqlo had a couple of words with Ninja, to play good and make the brand shine on both players of the central court hahaha

Had some celery sticks with cheddar, washing it down with some sublime chabilis.
Now fancy some quality chocolate but have none...

V much doubt it, he's just broken Querrey in game 3 to go 2-1 up with serve. That's usually the match right there with Nadal.

I wouldn't mind Nishikori's 'never say die' attitude if he didn't frequently fold in the end, but only after he's stuffed his opponent over for the next round.

I noticed players in general are not scared of the net as in the past, to which I say - good and about time!

Nadal having a real battle with Querrey - as ever with him this first set is absolutely key.
Nishikori battling against relentless pressure on his serve - he's been doing this since the 4th game in the 1st set.

Why has Nishi won nothing with that talent?
Well, unfortunately he is a bit thick....how else can his coming to the net on the second serve at 15 all be explained...

He set himself up for that FH and still fucked it.
Adds to underwhelming nature of this Slam.

Nadal has got that first set now, 1hr but he'll be more relaxed, and a more relaxed Nadal is hellish dangerous.

French commentator (Santoro) taking the piss at the referee for not tackling Nadal on time wasting.
The funny thing is that for Naxroy we are the bad boys who dislike a "great chmapion"....but cannot see she is supporting a serial cheat.

And Nadal grabs an early break in set 2, he is such a strong starter, it's a devastating way of putting pressure on your opponent.

This Federer match should have been over half an hour ago. Hope he doesn’t pay for it.

Assuming he wins, it will not have been >3hrs, and he has not faced that most physically, and above all mentally exhausting task of repeatedly defending his own serve. He's been rattling through his service games and pressurising his opponent. If that takes too much out of him he does not deserve to be a contender.

Winning in four sets, 2hrs 36mins, faced 6 bp's of which 5 were in the first two serving games of a poor first set, and forced to up his standard. A good win and a reasonable test - he has shaken off any complacency caused by the last outing against a poor Berrettini.

Needs 3 more at the AO to reach that milestone.
Nadal you'd expect to make 100 at RG in next 2 years at the most.
