OBAMA v Romney......Nothing to do with tennis but far more important.....maybe
The US elections is around the corner and the last debate occured last night. I am surprised the race is that close and though I have been pretty disappointed with Obama international politics I understand he has been between the hammer and the anvil, or so I like to think.
Having listened to the second debate, I am very surprised one can take Mitt seriously. I much preferred McCain as a republican as he sounded more credible and honest. The US I must say will always surprise me in that regard. I had diner last week with 2 US colleagues from Boston and was stunned to hear they hate Obama to guts and will vote Romney.
There is something I like about America and americans but I am also aware there is a huge gap seperating us in terms of approach to life and its phylosophy and that gap is probably as big as an ocean.

I really hope Romney does not make into the White House. His foreign policies are mad.

Indeed. Though I think it was easier for him to bark behind the door than it willbe if/when his door opens up to the rest of the world. It's the people holding the strings behind them who really worry me.

Will try to move the article.
The Americans I met last week were also surprised that in our 4 meetings in Europe (we did a few large organisations) when we unformally raised the subject at teh end of meetings customers were all in favour of Obama.

Obama is Wall Streets' golden boy, they wouldnt chose such a pathetic Republican candidate to run against if he wasnt their choice
Romney is just there to represent right wing Republican views that many mistake as "American values" and to pander up to the bible belt

I live in the U.S. and even though I don't think Mitt is great and there would definitely be better Republican candidates, I do not think the president is as important as his team, so having had 4 years of Obama has already been way too much, so I'd go with Mitt. I am not surprised by the reactions and points of view of the Americans you met, Tenez, tbh, and I am sure they're not just average Americans, so I would not say that Republicans have to always be the average ones and Democrats the more advanced ones...

That's very true and as Vee says Wall street is behind him so Obama is not an angel.
But Sphair, I think Mitt's boys behind him don;t really inspire me either. BUt at the end of the day do we really believe when he says he cares about people's job? Willing to give more money to defense is clearly not going to help the job market. For having worked a bit with defense ministers, I know where the money goes!!!

OK, I though I'd leave this one alone, but here's my two bob:
I am not an armchair politician, and despise watching politicians. In my opinion, they are lowest of the low. They'd sell you and me any day for a bit of profit.
When I was & young, responsibility free, I was actively taking part in bringing Milosevic regime down before all wars started in the Balkans. It nearly cost me life.
I have then viewed it as power to the people. All or nothing.
Politics is anything but that. It's the art of promising everything, delivering nothing in such a way that people buy it every time. Every election.
But it's God who raises the nations and brings them down. There is a reason Britain was once Great and is not any more.
Same with the US. We shall sadly see its downfall in our children's generation. It a sinking ship.
Obama, Clinton, Bush, Mitt, etc, is just another Muppet Show.
I don't have a clue who is promising what this time or what their foreign policy is, behind it is always the big buck, because in Dollar America trusts not God any more.
China is becoming a country with the largest number of Christians. Many undgerground and persecuted, but the trend is rising.
In modern day people expect change every 4 years. In God's time, those changes happen by generations, every 25 years roughly. Those of you old enough, look back 25 years and see the difference, then try to imagine the world in 25 years' time.
God honours those who honour Him.

I'm sorry NITB, I don't think Christianity is real at all.
Perhaps God may exist, and if it does I think it would be an abstract being, but I highly highly doubt that the Christian God is real.
Science has shown and proved time and again, it is flawed. Most of the historical 'facts' of the bible have been proven wrong by science.

The flaws in the Christian history of the universe has been proved to be flawed beyond reasonable doubt.
There may be God, as I said it would probably be an abstract being, but certainly the Christian story doesn't add up to make any logical sense.

you just say christian does that mean the other religions aren't flawed?
It isn't logical but it is more logical than the koran which basically stole the stories of the torah and bible and is littered with contradictions, inaccuracies and differing accounts of many illiterate scribers at the time.

In the comment box, the 7th button from the left "image" should do it. Post the URL in the box.

I think maybe you are posting the Web URL instead of the image URL.
e.g. Search for Koala on google. 100s of Koala bear images appear. click one of them, it will be hosted on Google with the original site in background.
In the right panel, click on the "Full-size image". now only the image appears. This is the image URL. Post this URL and it should work.

The Financial mess in US started much earlier than Obama. He has become the scapegoat for the economy even though it is an inheritance he could not refuse. Deficits will rise no matter who shows up in WH.
One comment which was rather sad for a candidate to make was the following...
Mr. Romney mentioned Egypt's "Muslim Brotherhood president" and the "dramatic reversal in the kind of hopes we had for that region".
http://www.ocregister.com/articles/romney-375385-obama-president.html
Romney's vision of foreign policy is a larger army. The Libya attack is minor, compared to debacle at Ground Zero, but is being exploited for political purposes.
Democrats or Republicans, a problem either way.

Strangely enough when I was doing my buying qualification 4 years ago, my teacher who was an economist blamed the near global collapse on NASA during the Bush years. In 2004 I recall. Not sure how much of that is true.

Donald Trump, the impossibly coiffed real estate mogul, reality TV star and de facto leader of the "birther" movement, made his "big announcement" about President Barack Obama on Wednesday, saying he would give $5 million to a charity of Obama's choice in exchange for the release of the commander in chief's college records and passport application.
"Barack Obama is the least transparent president in the history of this country," Trump said in a video shot from his New York office and uploaded to YouTube. "I'm very honored to have gotten him to release his long-form birth certificate or whatever it may be."
"I have a deal for the president," Trump continued. "If Barack Obama opens up and gives his college records and applications and if he gives his passport applications and records I will give to a charity of his choice—inner-city children in Chicago, American Cancer Society, AIDS research, anything he wants—a check immediately for $5 million."
The professional carnival barker also issued an accompanying press release on his Facebook page.
The announcement was immediately mocked on Twitter.
"Our expectations about @realDonaldTrump's Obama announcement were clearly not low enough," New York Magazine said on its Twitter feed.
"BREAKING: Donald Trump demands to know what medical school Dr. Dre went to," Twitter user @BScalabrine24 wrote.
"Trump will give $5 million if Obama releases his college records," @WatchJ tweeted. "I'll give a crackhead $3 if Trump releases that squirrel sittin on his head."
"BREAKING: Donald Trump replaces bed bugs as Americas #1 Pest," Lizz Winstead wrote on Twitter.
"We're going to make a very important cat announcement shortly that will change the internet," BuzzFeed declared.
"Sorry Trump, but in the same way the U.S. doesn't negotiate with terrorists, presidents shouldn't negotiate with idiots," @the_moonface wrote.
"This Donald Trump character is Andy Kaufman's greatest bit ever," Aaron Blitzstein tweeted.
"Donald Trump is the Honey Boo Boo of rich people," @MorgonFreeman said.
"Trump, would you be a dear and offer 5 million dollars if Romney will reveal ANY PART of his economic plan?" Alex Baze wrote.
The Onion tweeted: "'I'm a sad, pathetic human being and a complete waste of life.' — Donald Trump."
[Related: Trump: 'I have something very, very big concerning the president']
In an interview with "Fox & Friends" on Monday, Trump said, "I have something very, very big concerning the president of the United States. I will be announcing it sometime probably Wednesday and it's going to be very big."
"Will it change the election?" co-host Gretchen Carlson asked Trump. "Possibly," Trump replied. "It's very big—bigger than anybody would know."
Following Trump's titillating tease, there was some speculation that he would unveil divorce papers that Michelle Obama had allegedly drawn up more than a decade ago. Others thought the "Celebrity Apprentice" host had proof of the president's rumored cocaine use during college.
In August, Trump was supposed to deliver a "big surprise" at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., but Hurricane Isaac forced the GOP to cut his appearance from the truncated schedule. The "big surprise"? A video featuring an Obama impersonator who Trump predictably fired.

Hopefully the divisiveness of the election can be put behind and The President and the Congress can work together to address issues and not engage in empty talk for the sake of US.
NBC's analysis seems to indicate a racial and immigrant divide amongst voters.

You cant really blame them can you?
Have a look at this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5t6t113syr0&sns=fb
As for Obama,we we all knew he was a shoe in winner being Wall streets golden boy.I dont think I have ever seen them go to such extremes to protect a president.Every time he goes somewhere the whole city is locked down with security
Apart from that, its hard not to like the guy,he is extremely charismatic, very very well spoken and articulate,he has presence and commands an audience so people listen to him
