yep...not so long ago a Rafa loss was bad day for the crowd and commentators...but since he lost his hair, they don;t mind him going, especially if it is by a more gutsy player.

Who cares about Nadal....

I am so happy about Pouille!

I can't get over now nice he is.

And after I saw this clip I realised why he is so good to watch: it's all about "plaisir" for him when he plays.

And who can boast of that on tour these days?

Is he top 10 quality already? He has an excellent record against them this year.

But I don't think he is consistent enough yet.

I meant Top 10 "quality"... I think he has beaten 5 or 6 top 10 this year. Not many top 10 can claim that.

I was wondering who was the last youngester to have reached 2 QF in the same year at 22? Raonic? Dimi? or Murray?

I m serious...Murray is probably the last youngster (Djoko achieved it probably earlier than Pouille's age) to get to 2 QF before 23. In fact Delpo might have done it too.

So Just checked..briefly:

Delpo is the last one in 2009. Win, Semi and QF. at 19 yo.

And  Murray in 2008 too with a QF and F at 21.

The after that nothing! not Nishi, not Raonic.

I was looking to find some news on Pouille.

Not much:

http://www.tennisworldusa.org/news/news/Tennis_Stories/38819/lucas-pouille-preparing-in-dubai-for-the-2017-season/

Training in Dubai...I wonder if he'll spend any time with Fed there.

http://www.tennisworldusa.org/news/news/Tennis_Stories/38788/lucas-pouille-has-two-new-managers-one-is-a-billionaire/

And it reminded me of how it was to be a Nole fan 10 years ago.
Barely anything in the press...

Well, I look forward to enjoying Lucas's career in the next 10 years.

A player after my own heart! love

I just read he is in top 5 of all ATP players under pressure!

......

All season long, Lucas Pouille had shown he was one of the best players on the ATP World Tour during the biggest moments. Coming into the US Open, the Frenchman was ranked No. 25 in the Emirates ATP Rankings, but he had played like Top 5 player when under pressure, according to the Under Pressure Leaders category of the ATP Stats LEADERBOARDS, powered by the Infosys Information Platform.

.....

Mimd you, when I saw the rest of thr  list, I am not sure it has any value...

On paper he looks very good, doing all the right things (working hard, good team, all the support he needs, emotionally stable etc )  and that seems to be the way these days.
If he has any weaknes, he seems too nice.

Showed vs Murray...allowed him to get under his skin and gave up the fight.
I hope he can toughen a bit.

Yep.....you were right but being half French he is unlikely to be another Borg or Wilander...hopefully he will deliver though.
