Britexit in or out of the E.U
im curious to know who is voting to leave the EU and who is voting to stay and why
it seems most of the people i know is voting to leave,in fact i dont know 1 person who is keen to stay in the EU
i just saw an ad on tv that says that the u.k send 350 every week to brussels just to stay in the e.u and that that money could so easily be spent on the NHS
i think what scares most people and myself the most is the immigration part, many e.u immigrants come here to work hard but just as many come to enjoy the benefit system,my biggest fear is what happens when turkey joins
that would mean that iraq is our border
i wouldnt classify turley to be european either, thier culture is too different
im still keen to enjoy the perks of being part of the E.U but the direction i which it is moving in does worry me a lot so i am not sure which way to vote

Re: Britexit in or out of the E.U
I don't watch TV and have no idea about pros and cons.
I love Europe.
But when I heard Obama said we should vote to stay in, I knew I was going to have to vote the opposite.
I only know what's going on when I log out of my hotmail account and then see MSN headlines.
I even saw Putin was taunting Cameron about it the other day.
In my heart of hearts, I don't believe either scenarios will make much difference.
And I feel violated I even have to vote about it.
Politics is filthy, it brings out the worst in people.
When you look how life and people have been changing since WW2 there is not much to look forward to.

Re: Britexit in or out of the E.U
i think the most important question here has to be what kind of chnage either will bring and how it will effect us
i think voting out will bring a lot of immediate change that will personally affect us all cause restrictions and isolatio that will come from that
how it effects us personallywill probably differ from person to person whether it be good or bad
if we vote to stay, ther wont be any immediate change so it wont personally effect us immediately but i think we will feel the effetcs in the long run
so i think leaving will have more of a personal impact then staying
the last referendum i remember was when i gre up in south africa and it was about whether or not thye should allow people of colour to start voting, the overwhelming majority voted yes
the funny thing about that was that with the first democratic elections, many people of colour still voted for the national party which was the political party that gave them apartheid
their response was better the devil you know then the devil you dont
i wonder if people here will vote the same way...

Re: Britexit in or out of the E.U
I don't know how different political parties affect our lives, they come and go but I can see that people have less and less hope in their eyes.
I can see that in the last 2-3 years my David Lloyd gym has become full of Indian families, even the staff.
I can see it is harder to hold any job incl. "permanent".
I can see more and more junk in shops - gross food and clothing.
I can see new generations tattooed from head to toe, men holding hands in the streets of London...
I don't need to know which party is in power at all...it makes no difference.
I saw that a labour politician was shot dead the other day.
Looks like an organised assasination.
I don't know how anyone can watch TV.
5 minutes of it in the gym's changing room usually agitates me and sends me into a ranting monologue to the person next to me.
Has everyone's mind been numbed and seared?
Is everyone living in fear?

Re: Britexit in or out of the E.U
Yes, I watch tennis online.
I stopped watching tv long time ago: it's a factory of lies and manipulation. And a life-waster.
I don't care for DIY, cooking, reality programmes...
I can't stand Jeremy Clarkson and other egomaniacs...documentaries about Britain's greatness in WW 1&2...
The only thing I watch is New Year's concert in Vienna, but I decided I won't watch it any more for political reasons.
Enjoy more having my own thoughts and observations, listening to birdsong and communing with the beauty of flowers and trees.
And I turn the tennis commentating off most of the time, too.
Empty words and empty people everywhere.

Re: Britexit in or out of the E.U
I don't think it's actually possible to predict which decision will be best for the country.
Norway for example is not in the EU, but still have to follow EU trade regulations and have free movement of people, in order to have a tariff free trade deal with the EU bloc.
So even leaving the EU, may not make the huge difference that people think it will.
You're from Serbia originally, right, so is it ok for you to use David Lloyd?

That might be me and my family. My mum is from India, I was born in UK, we might be the 'Indian family' who use David Lloyd, what's wrong with that?noleisthebest wrote:I can see that in the last 2-3 years my David Lloyd gym has become full of Indian families, even the staff.

Well, Indians are bringing the price of labour down, esp in IT industry.
They are gastarbeiters.
British people are losing jobs to them.
Even my (english) husband's colleague who is a British born Indian is complainig saying enough of Indians, we need more cowboys!

Indians and children of Indians on the whole did average better on GCSE and A level than average population.
Bloody Indians, coming to our country and having kids who do well at GCSEs who then have the audacity of being better qualified for jobs!

thats what happened when poland joined the e.u
a lot of the immigrants were builders and worked n construction so they undercut the biritsh builders charged them a fraction for doing the same job
as most of them didnt have a family or mortgage to support
the british builders reaslly suffered because of that
so now can anyone imagine what would happen is turkey were to join the E.U
we would have half of turkey wanting to come live here

its being reported that the u.k has given turkey £2 billion to help them join the e.u
i seriously doubt that they would give a country that much money if there was no intention for them to join the e.u

Sorry, but what has Turkey got to do with Britain deciding whether to stay or go?

if turnkey joins the e.u then we will have an influx of turks moving to the u.k
lets be honest most of these migrants dont go to live anywhere else, they all come here
the other downside would be that iraq will be our border
had labour kncoking on my dorr this morning trying to convince me to vote to stay, that actually annoyed me so much that now i want to vote to leave

Re: Britexit in or out of the E.U
besides, why should money that we pay in taxes go to turkey,so that they can join the e.u?
if they want to join the e.u then they should be economically strong enough on thier own to join without us having to help them
if we stay in the e.u and turkey joins, its just going to be another "greece" problem where we constantly have to bail them out

Re: Britexit in or out of the E.U
It's true Britain want Turkey to join, and I fully agree with you that we shouldn't be paying a single taxpayer penny trying to get Turkish accession.
However, looking at it from a purely pragmatic realistic viewpoint- it's very unlikely that they will join in the near or even medium term future. They have only achieved like 2/30 of the criteria, and many governments across Europe are having tensions and hostilities with the Turkish government over a variety of issues (remember any EU country can veto Turkish membership).

I forgot about it...don't know even where my card is...I suppose I don't need it.
I probably won't even go and waste time.
I can predict that Britain will stay in.
Referendum has been rigged.
Now that's what I call a waste of taxpayers' money...l

yes I agree. Britain will stay in. I'd be very surprised if the powers were to leave it to you to decide. They just want us to believe we are in control. With the remain propaganda that has been going on on the Beeb and the main papers, I doubt Leave has the slimmest of chance to succeed.....
....and if it did they would still do like they did for France, Ireland and Holand.....they will cancel the referundum!

Wow, I didn't know referndums were cancelled...
I admit I am struggling to keep unharmed by all stupidity around me. People have become like robots parroting the same they must have heard on tv.

Wow....history in the making.
It's like the bank turning you down a loan. You might think it's bad....but it's actually better for you in the long run....and bad for the bank!
So rejoice even if it might get tough at first.

waking up to breaking news,i am actually quite shocked cause even i thought that vote to remain will win this referendum
ok so we now know for a fact that this referendum wasnt rigged in any way
lots of change to come ,what i never considered was how this referendum could affect the stability of the union
with scotland and northern ireland keen to stay in the E.U are they now going decide to leave the union and become independent
god help us all if boris johnson becomes the next prime minister
i wonder if this will be the beginning of the end for the E.U

todays outcome could have a major impact on britih tennis
with scotland voting to stay in the e.u there will most likely be another referendum for scottish independance
if scotland becomes independent and remains in europe then murray wont be british anymore lol
he will most likely be european when he wins and scottish when he loses
ill be looking forward to seeing him bestripped of his OBE
cause how can he be a member of the order of the british empire if he isnt even british lol
he probably wont ever be knighted either

Re: Britexit in or out of the E.U
I think those who voted to remain were actually the ignorant ones.
The EU is the equivalent of the USSR: A big country (here the US) colonising the smaller ones. The USSR finally collapsed and now it is time Europe frees itself.
95% of the countries on this planet don't belong to a Union....and it works better for them.

i thnk veryone is still getting over the shock of the outcome as it seemed vote to remain had this in the bag
just goes to show how pointless polls are
the interesting thing for me has to be the reason why some voted to leave,at lot of it had nothing to do with the e.u but just the fact that thye were fed up of not being heard
some voted just in defiance to the current government
the uncertainty is definitely worrying but its not unchartered waters...

Exactly.
France is also fed up with the EU. the media are much worse there in terms of scaremongering but life quality in Europe is deteriorating fast.
For those who voted Remain, imagine if you had no choice but to be part of Schengen and had the EUro....woudl you still have voted to remiain?

this has to be a massive blow for the new world order and one wolrd government but i cant help but wonder if there was some kind of hidden agenda and if this result was what the powers that be was really after
seems a little too much of a coincidence that our next world leaders could possibly be boris johnson and donald trump

i am actually quite annoyed now to find out that some of the claims the leave campaign were making turns out to be a lie
leaving the e.u will not solve the immigration problem, that was always something i knew but this claim that we were sending £350 million a week to brussels to be a part of the e.u is now not true at all
makes me wonder if the claim that £2 billion was given to turkey istrue
theres now a pretition going around on solcial media for a second referendum, with apartnely almost 3 million signatures ... its just come to light that almost 40 000 of those signatures are supposedly from the vatican city, around 25 000 from north korea and almsot 3000 from the british anartic teritory which only has a population of 250 people
this referendum has been nothig but a farce from start to end....

If they overturn referendum, that would be the end.
My blood is boiling even and the thought of it happen.
That much for "democracy" and wicked nato leaders that go and destroy others in the name of same western "values".
People are bigger slaves than they think.
Can people of Iraq sue NATO for false evidence on which they went to war into?

None of this would be happening if Britain voted to remain in the EU.
I can't believe this is happening. What's next?

Re: Britexit in or out of the E.U
not necessarily, the vote to leave could complain that those who voted to remain were deceived and if were given the proper info could have voted to leave instead
as i said, there were lies told on both sides and that had an significant impact on how people voted
the vote to leave were especially duped on things like immigration and as can be seen to date, brexit was not the answer
