I did an actual stats check on it; with a much greater sample size, and found that the pace of rallies now is very similar to that around 7-8 years ago. You first didn't reply, then got annoyed because I was making it standardised by only counting up till 15 shots in the rally, then in the face of my much larger sample size you brought up one other anecdotal rally with tonnes of slices, then it was getting so embarrassing you didn't contribute further to the discussion.
That's not a rebuttal.

By the time I put my 3 cakes to bake, 4:1 already.
I assume Nole's returning disarmed Tsonga's confidence?

Jo has to be lighter and quicker on his feet on the baseline if he wants to win this one, too slow on some of his FH, missing them.
Unnecessary panic.

Tsonga's got to bite the bullet if he wants to win his. None of the meek baseline rallying.

Re: ATP Masters 1000: SHANGHAI
Djokovic has distanced himself so much from the rest of the pack. This year he is like Fed was in 2005-07; miles ahead of anyone out there.
He is almost impossible to beat. Only someone like Stan can beat him as he did in RG. No one else.
WTF, Bercy.. its almost a guaranteed for him..

Tsonga is giving up.. slowly.. not even attempting much on his return games. His only hope is a TB .. If it gets that far..

The pace accuracy and consistency of Djokovic's shots is mind blowing.. He can do anything on court right now.. anything.noleisthebest wrote:Jo has to be lighter and quicker on his feet on the baseline if he wants to win this one, too slow on some of his FH, missing them.

Djokovic has vastly improved on his serving.. its such a major weapon for him now. He saved many of the BPs against Fed just by serving good. Not just pace and accuracy, its the choice of direction and serve type has also to be accounted.

I agree. His fitness is beyond anything that was seen before and his shots, though still ugly, are getting faster and more consistent even.raiders_of_the_lost_ark wrote:Djokovic has distanced himself so much from the rest of the pack. the only way to beat him is by serve-volleying....but for that the balls will have to be much faster (smaller).

Djoko is hilighting how important mouvement is. It makes all his shots better than they would had he Tsonga mouvement for instance.

Who do you think will be able to beat Djokovic this year in the remaining tournaments? Or he will win all that he enters?

And Djoko has a huge advantage over Federer. No new technology, new fitness or different pace conditions has come to change the dynamics of the game. That's why at 28, he is not going down yet.

No one this year. Not even the best of Stan or Fed. He is just moving too well. Nishi has the game....but not the mind or fitness yet.....in a year or 2 Nishi shoudl be better even!raiders_of_the_lost_ark wrote:Who do you think will be able to beat Djokovic this year in the remaining tournaments? Yet, it's Fed who is the only one able to beat him.Tenez wrote:raiders_of_the_lost_ark wrote:Djokovic has distanced himself so much from the rest of the pack. This year he is like Fed was in 2005-07; miles ahead of anyone out there.

But he needed to be fresh and have fast conditions for it (Cinci).
Oh, and I nearly forgot! - Dubai, too.

Nishi hasn't improved much in the last year, and is showing signs of gutlessness against big hitters.
He could do with working on his serve, that would help.
He has everything to cut through any baseliner, yet he keeps getting nervous.
Similar to Raonic.
I fear years spent with Boletieri have moulded him into a reactioner rather than conqueror.

With tiny improvements bringing more confidence, those things can change. We thought the same of Stan...before he won his 2 slams.

It would be nice to see, he is one of the most talented ball-strikers. Not sure Chang is a good choice of coach for him.

Chang was a lukewarm player, what can he teach Nishi?

Wow..that's funny....well sarcastic for sure.
I guess that was in response to Djoko's one-sided wins.

Yes..poor Todd's coaching career is finished now!
I remember it in 2010... Nole's rock bottom when he lost 3:0 to Berd in Wimbledon SF (who then lost 3:0 to Nadal in the final)..don't know how he even got to that SF without a serve.

I didn't expect it at all this year.
I think his marriage and child gave him emotional comfort and love he had been craving from the crowd all these years, so he is much more peaceful and stable now, not easy to rattle like in the past. Just ask Murray.
As a result - more confident and comfortable in his skin.
And though looking invincible, it still feels fragile to me.
Although he thrashed Murray yesterday, Murray can certainly beat him, so can a few others.
But right now, he is "in the zone."
I read he said he wasn't even tired after two weeks of back to back playing in China.

Tsonga and the rest don't try to change tactics or think up anything different that might work. Tsonga is great at the net and should be utilizing that strength - but he doesn't. He sits back and plays djokovic at his own game like a dumpling.

Yes, but what can he teach Nishi?
Nobody answered my question about ball timing yesterday...

I don't think it has much to do with that. He is just completely focused to his sport, professionalism to its extreme, like the 4 top players....and knowing he can be on the ball so easily, simply gives him wings and allows him to relax.
His game is based on his fitness and fitness is by definition "solid". So It will have to be a new guy with a big weapon to beat him. I have no doubt that someone like Chung will be much better soon. But here by soon, I mean 12 to 18 months. And though looking invincible, it still feels fragile to me.

Not surprised, he did not even break a sweat.I read he said he wasn't even tired after two weeks of back to back playing in China.
