It's exactly like last year. Federer is not playing well. far from it. he started well in that first set but got nervous and irritated as the match went along!

It's very simple.....it's the simple fact that Federer has to go for too much to shake Djoko off. That adds so much pressure on all fed's shots.

As far as I'm concerned, Fed's won this.

Djoko can even afford to fall....he is still on the ball. This sums it up!

Novak can read the serves better than Murray was reading, I haven't seen Federers serve stats to compare them yet.

Federer is back in this but I gotta say, novak is such a clutch player...he may have gotten a little tight that 2nd set tie break but he is a man of steal!!

I don;t think we have a match on. It;s just amazing effort from Fed to make it look good. Had he won the first set as he shoudl have then it woudl be a different story.

What a TB!!!
Heart of three lions Fed has.
Momentum now on his side.
Amazing to feel its pulse beat, it's like a living thing.

I honestly lost all hope at the end of the first set. Fed needed to win in 3.

You were right the other day.
Nole is just keeping him at the edge of the baseline, not allowing him to relax.
Fed is doing well under the circumstances, fighting so bravely.
He is getting a lokk in some of Nole's second serves, but it's superhuman to expect such relentless focus all the time from him, yet he is there...

He's not used to playing on Sundays that is the only excuse I can think of for his slow legsVeejay wrote:I cant believe roger missed that shot!! he just doesn't look as focused as he has been throughout this tournament
He needs set 3 10x more than Novak does.

And the rain delay is not going to help him.
It's really annoying. Had he won that bloody first set....it woudl be a very different story.

Re: Wimbledon, Day 13, Men's Final
im really disappointed with the way Federer is playing today, this is no where near the level he has been maintaining throughout this tournament
I don't think tiredness is a good enough excuse cause he hasn't been pushed to 5 sets in any of his previous matches
I hope this rain delay helps him regroup

2.4miles for Fed, 2.3 for Djoko

Anyway I'm sure Federer is using this Wimbledon final as practise to be fit for the USO.

Fed really needed help from Anderson to knock out Djokovic, he does not have the power to push Novak away these days except on places like Cinci.

Indeed. But the most difficult nbit was to see Djoko everywhere. It's that BH again. Djoko abuses that side and gives him great confidence knowing that Fed can't hurt him from this side.bogbrush wrote:Fed looks exhausted, it's difficult to watch.

Re: Wimbledon, Day 13, Men's Final
that was a VERY poor effort from roger, the last 2 sets he hardly even tried to fight
missing the easiest shots..shocking!!
I have never seen him give in so easily
even the 09 AO final against nadal he still kept the intensity in the 5th even though he ran out of steam
roger didn't even look like he had a clear game plan let alone executing it
very disappointing
well congrats to novak,a deserved champion

Yes, that's fed only chance....or having one tough match.....but not 2 in a row. Even if he beat Andy in 3..he looked tired at the end of the 3rd set v Andy.

Gutting.
Just felt this was Feds last chance at making an 8th Wimbledon. I never say athletes deserve titles or accolades, but Federer not being out and out as Wimbledon champion feels unjustified.

Re: Wimbledon, Day 13, Men's Final
Fed has become slowly a much easier opponent for Djokovic than even someone like Cilic, or Murray or even some other lower ranked double handers.
Ten, nitb, you can keep hailing Fed's BH but its just such a figured out weakness, there is just NO way Fed can get out of it. Can't you see how he has to protect is so much by running around that totally exposed the court on the FH where Fed has always been slower to defend.
What can Fed do here?
Only thing that can save Fed was his serving. The moment it falls anything below 70%, Fed is doomed. No touch, feel or quick hands can save it.
Fed perhaps had his last chance to win a slam.

Re: Wimbledon, Day 13, Men's Final
Fed was no way tired physically, not today. If it was anything it was mental fatigue of not being able to do anything on court against an opponent who has him figured out so much. Even his 1st serves in the 2nd and 3rd sets become so readable.Tenez wrote:AceofDeath wrote:Fed really needed help from Anderson to knock out Djokovic, he does not have the power to push Novak away these days except on places like Cinci.

You make many good points, but not about fatigue, he was exhausted - playing squash shots unnecessarily is a massive give away.

Re: Wimbledon, Day 13, Men's Final
Well I say the BH was his weakness again....but you are a bit swift dismissing that Fed had the first chance to win teh first set, and if he did not it was not down to his BH, but his serve that was below his whole tournament standard.raiders_of_the_lost_ark wrote:Fed has become slowly a much easier opponent for Djokovic than even someone like Cilic, or Murray or even some other lower ranked double handers.

Likewise, I coudl tell you that Stan's BH did not even help him v Gasquet.
It's not so much Fed's BH the weakness here as Djoko's mouvement which makes targets so much smaller. Anybody would have been uneasy against fed today.....except Djoko who simply can get to any ball.

Re: Wimbledon, Day 13, Men's Final
Disagree. It was obvious tiredness. Problem is we are not used to seeing the real performance of a clean athlete nowadays. We expect them to run miles for ever whether they are taller and more muscly than Federer.raiders_of_the_lost_ark wrote:Fed was no way tired physically, not today. You are underestimating what it takes to run those miles on a tennis court.....at 34...if you have no help from miracle products. Fed started well again, we could even see he was better just after the rain break...but it only takes a few tough rallies to kill the footwork precision.
