Murray Berdych starting.
I m not impressed by the "price money" both won. $3.9M each. Not a lot for players who have been so successful on the tour for quite a few years. Look at any golfer who has won 2 majors and been so many times runner up and I am pretty sure the price money is triple that.

In fact it is 6 to 7 times that amount.....according to Buba Watson price money......incredible knowing the competition is much fierce in tennis.

Murray can certainly retrieve but it's down to pull a FH winner ...it won't happen before he is 2 sets up ad 2 breaks up.

Funny, when Murray tries to be aggressive - he misses...but even with his super passive play he nearly broke Berdych again...

Yes...did you see that point when he made the brilliant angled wide BH return, had the entire empty court to put the ball away but somehow managed to push it back down the middle to Berdych.Tenez wrote:Murray can certainly retrieve but it's down to pull a FH winner ...it won't happen before he is 2 sets up ad 2 breaks up.
He won that point eventually about 10 shots later, but could've easily lost it.

Yes that 1st set SP is so typical...murray trying to win a FH winner under pressure.....he should know.
I really don't fancy Berdych v Djoko so I would prefer Murray to win for the final's sake......but somehow I prefer Berds to Murray....just.

Well, Berd's playing better tennis, so it's not hard to prefer him...problem is, he is so limited with his movement which makes his tennis all bark but no bite when it matters.

Berdych 0/4 down in the second set. Shoudl not despair as if he keeps moving Murray, Murray will cramp soon.

This has been a very disappointing AO tennis wise.
We haven't seen many good matches.
I expect that to change tomorrow.

Can anyone see any changes in Murray's tennis since Mauresmo became his coach?
I can't.
For all the talk of new coaches, both he and Berd play exactly the same as they always have...

Murray is pretty fit and yes he can be a bit more aggressive....but that started with Lendl. The thing is he was pretty convincing today.
My mind will be certainly shared between Djoko and Murray.

Murray is fit, but in my opinion has little chance against Nole.
Maybe against Stan if Stan doesn't watch himself.
Btw, that was an odd interview from Murray...the Feminist!
Also, the crowd was on the verge of booing him when he went on anout "unfair" pressure about his ex-coach...which is why I think he then sucked up to "women coaches" just to please the crowd...
Murray, the PR king!!!

Yes.....typical from him... but Murray contributed in his this by killing his legs....and typically Derdych was looping more as the match went on and that meant Murray coudl ask him to rally with him. At that game Murray was always going to win.
That's where the safer spinny powerful shots are so important cause cause one can still create enough pace with safety and over the 5 setter, that's so important. Murray won today cause his arms are bigger. It's as simple as that.

Re: Australian Open 2015: Matches of the day: Day 11 29-Jan-2015
What surprised me was how poorly Murray started the match.
I knew he was a slow starter, but this was beyond a slow start.(I nearly asked if I could change the pick when you did it )
He couldn't serve, he looked sluggish on his feet, like a pale shadow of himself.
And then as soon as he broke Berdych n that first set everything changed INSTANTLY.
As if he wanted to deliberately sedate Berdych and then give him a shock, knowing how wobbly Berdych is.
Plus, as you said those biceps looked a size too big in that t-shirt...so nothing to worry about over 5 sets...

djokovic has to win...murray needs to be reminded of his place
he is becoming way too cocky
i don't think i have ever seen anyone make the game of tennis look a ugly as murray doesÂ
he is such an ugly player to watch..i find him unbearable to watch
