Re: ATP 500/250: Rotterdam, Memphis, Buenos Aires
No, not a fan.
I just checked Thiem on Wikipedia and I see he has won 7 Challenger or Futures titles - all on clay. His best junior slam showing was at RG too. So I suppose it makes sense - his FH is a bit clay-courty, so to speak. The odd thing is that his BH is decidedly not so.
Or maybe I just have not seen enough of him to make proper sense of his game.

Likewise I have only seen that clip of Thiem. At first not that impressed by his FH, BH and footwork...but then I found out he is only 20 so that's pretty good actually. In short he is not leaning forward enough on his ground shots and that might be due to the pacy conds.

Wasn't it Murray who made some nasty comments about Cilic when this one got tested positive?noleisthebest wrote:It was quite enjoyable watching Murray lose to Cilic, he,he...

Well remembered! I forgot about it, although when I saw the link and "unprofessional" remembered I actually posted it here a few months ago.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/24872914Cilic is the latest player on tour to come back with extra kgs of muscle.
Murray was at his sublime scrambling best last night, I couldn't believe the balls he got to and retrieved...so much so that he may have even overtaken Nadal in that department.

On that note, I was quite disappointed to see Dimitrov lose to Gulbis. I have high hopes for him for this year - top 10 and beyond.
Dimitrov didn't play badly against Gulbis at all, but again, his lack of initiative cost him, he is too happy just to vegetate on the baseline.
I really don't know why he stopped being aggressive like in his younger days. He needs to find it inside himself asap, or else he'll forever be lingering in top 20.
Also, I don't think Rasheed is a good choice fir him (or anyone for that matter). He didn't do anything for Tsonga, just wasted a year of his career.

Nice match between Gulbis and Berdych.
Started watching at the end of the first set which went to Berdych.
Gulbis playing some good tennis, hope this goes to three sets

Right, Berdych should win this tournament.
Who's entered Dubai? Berdych can beat most players in this form.

By the time I went to make a toasted sandwich, the match was finished....
I hope Earnie keeps this form for clay season.

Ernie is always like this. Its futile to keep hopes with him. He will always be a dangerous floater to beat anyone on a given day but fizzle out to even a nobody in the next. He has the skill, and he shows determination too. But just can't string it together for a series of matches.

Cilic reminding me of Guillermo canas.. out for months due to a Ban.. then back with bang stringing wins together....
Wait a sec.... that's true also for Nadal. Only his bans are silent. Typical of a doped athlete.
