The Excuses Thread
Nadal somehow won the US Open, so this place has done into excuse-making over drive.
Luckily I have collated them in one simple thread, to make it easier for everyone just in case they ran out of excuses as to why Nadal won.
(btw these are all from excuses that have already been written on this forum in the past 24 hours!)
Anyway, to end the article, it's a shame how Djokovic's fans don't emulate their hero in defeat. Djokovic's speech post-match was classy as usual, and he gained my respect even more. Certainly he is a fantastic player with a great attitude, I think a champion like him will bounce back without any silly 'UN' type excuses

If you guys have any more, do keep me updated. This is good comedy.
1. Djokovic gives talks to the UN, well he gave one talk anyway. Massively impact on him mentally.
2. Djokovic can speak better English than Nadal. Keeping up with the extra vocab is quite stressful you see.
3. He organises gala dinners unlike Nadal. But surely NITB his team can do that, no? Oh well maybe not.
4. He missed a volley which cost him the match. Not sure which one this was exactly, but it was one of the volleys he missed within the duration of the match.
5. Djokovic ran out of stamina. In the past 7 matches between the two Nadal has won the first set 6 times and broken early in 5 of those occasions. Poor Djokovic, lasted 11 hours in the Australian Open 2012, recovered superbly after a marathon against Stan in AO 2013, but gets tired after 3 games against Nadal Poor guy.
6. Nadal was cramping and 'out of the match' in the 3rd set according to Tenez. Djokovic must have found out by reading OTF, and then become complacent; hence costing the Serb the match. Oh, what bad luck!
7. Since AO 2012 Nadal has won 6/7 matches against Djokovic. However everyone knows Nadal only has mental strength when he is sure he can outlast someone. That must mean his match against Djokovic in AO 2012 game him this surety. Wait, what do you mean Djokovic won the 6 hour marathon 2 days after playing a 5 hour marathon? How would that give Nadal any confidence whatsoever? I'm not sure. Oops.

Re: The Excuses Thread
How about for the 2nd time Nadal got a ridiculously easy draw to the Finals of a US Open and then defeated a subpar on that day Djokovic. That's the reality excuse.
Now to Nadals credit, he has been playing some out of his mind hard court tennis (no matter the reasons behind it, it's top level hard court tennis) so maybe he could have made it through a tougher draw and taken out a Djokovic playing up to his top hard court level....... we'll never know.. A win is a win though and certainly adds to Nadals legacy.

Re: The Excuses Thread
I will agree that until the final he had a pretty kind draw- in the final itself I think it's easy to say 'oh Nole was subpar'- I have seen Nadal fans say 'Rafa was subpar' in 2011- I think that was unfair too.
Funnily enough both Nadal and Fed got really hard draws at Wimby, but they both fell out to seemingly easy opponents... just makes you think that you shouldn't take any draw for granted.

Re: The Excuses Thread
I am disappointed when people get star-struck and refuse to see what a complete cheat and disaster for tennis Nadal is.
Zero respect.
I can understand where sponsors are coming from, even Nadal fans- they are blind....but those who are not, they are the real worry

Edit: Just to clarify this post is directed to NITB, NOT LuvSports.
Maybe you're the one who is blind, and the rest have 2020 vision?
Or actually: no.
In reality this is a free country and we all have different tastes as to who we support- why do you support Djokovic vs Stan? Why do I support Nadal against Federer? etc. etc.
We all have different tastes.
The problem is, you are very narrow minded and a bit thick, so you can't understand that; and continuously get confused as people have different opinions and tastes to you.
It is fine by me- as you may know, my favourite poster on tennis forums is probably a Djokovic fan.

Ahh yes you guys were chums back on v2. His distaste for feds has clouded his vision, he is now among the dark side of the tennis force.

'were'? still am
No no, he doesn't really hate Federer. I've spoken and debated with him extensively (via PM, not on the forums much) and he has huge amounts of respect for Roger actually.
On the forums he likes to spice things up, plus I think some people get on his nerves, so he posts more controversially

So it's all an act? Like Alex Jones when he's off camera?
He gets on my nerves. He wrote a comment a while back that I did not like one bit!

Re: The Excuses Thread
No, not really an act, more reactionary I would say.
Tends to let the creative side flow with the similes and metaphors which can create a wrong impression I suppose.
But still a fantastic poster
And whaaat? Alex Jones is normal sometimes- that's shocking LOL. I was sure he was a mental case.

Like Nadal I am not really a fan of socal.
Yup. On andrew neil's show he tweeted the moment jones knew the camera wasn't rolling he stopped his charade instantly and changed into an almost different person!

Re: The Excuses Thread
I am impressed by Nadal's team cause no doubt both finalists were using magic potions but one is way ahead of the opposition performance wise.
My excuse is that I am still annoyed that on BPs I clocked Nadal still taking 50s plus! Absolutely ridiculous.

Re: The Excuses Thread
I don't have excuses because i said earlier that something really strange had to happen for Nadal not to win the USO. I'll be looking for excuses if Nadal wins the WTF too.
I actually think the OP owe us excuses because he said many times that Nadal could not win it..it's so easy to be perky afterwards

Re: The Excuses Thread
Before the final I actually predicted Rafito to win GP.
I will admit though, pre-USO I didn't think he would win it- no excuses though from me
