Why is Nadal worth 2 and Federer only 1? Shoudl be the other way around based on recent forms. Not sure Julia understands Nadal's advantage of having amazing fitness level.

The difference between Nadal and Federer is not due to them (infact I'd accept nadal is in better form recently as Tenez said), but due to the difference in Kohli and Robredo.
Kohli played superbly against isner, but Robredo struggled against Evans for a bit.

Re: US Open Round 4 (Day 8)- with Game Fixtures
I find USO scheduling so odd, in Wimbledon, this would have been the second Monday when top and bottom draws merge, the best day in the tournament, and USO is still an entire round behind...
Still, some exciting matches today and let's hope for an upset, after Darcis, can Kholi have an inspired day?
And since is the flavour of the thread..well... to Giorgi, Riske and Halep, all gutsy, human looking attacking-minded "surprises", go for it and make those huge bashers run and scramble!!!

The crunch match today really is:
Raonic (5) vs Gasquet (5)
Both are perennial Round 4 losers.
At the moment 2/3s of people here have chosen Raonic.

Ohh .. Giorgi loses and very quickly ran off the court after the match. Her game completely fell apart after she was leading 4-1 in the 1st set. Still she should take a lot of positives from the match.

Re: US Open Round 4 (Day 8)- with Game Fixtures
I like Wimbledon's scheduling pattern the best, but maybe it is just because that is what I grew up with. Otherwise, all slams have their own quirks but I do not think this year's USO is all that bad. They are not an entire round behind - really just a half a round as they will start playing R4 today (and that on the men's side only, women will be done with R4 just like they would be at Wimby). On top of that, they are finishing one day later this year, so I do not think being half a round behind is so bad.noleisthebest wrote:I find USO scheduling so odd, in Wimbledon, this would have been the second Monday when top and bottom draws merge, the best day in the tournament, and USO is still an entire round behind...

Re: US Open Round 4 (Day 8)- with Game Fixtures
I don't know...USO has been quite neglected and really gone down recently (no rain covers for the courts, terrible scheduling that led to unfair finals in the past, poorly paid B list umpires not to mention the more serious issues)...
It has compromised on many levels and almost completely lost its character, only the night crowd makes it stand out now a bit.
I can't remember a decent match played there for a long time, AO will soon take over.

The US scheduling is pretty poor at the beginning but it gets ridiculous at the end with the super saturday/weekend.
But I still like the USO....well at liked it before they started to slow things down there too.

Apparently, the rain having its last spell for today after which play should resume.
I used to hate rain delays until I sat through one in RG - two and a half solid hours of hard rain in my seat under the umbrella....and the time went really quickly, I actually enjoyed it!

Latest update from USO website:
"Rain has delayed play at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The rain has now stopped, the courts are being dried and play is expected to resume shortly."

Tipsarevic serving for the first set, him and Ferrer grinding the gizzards out of each other!
They actually played a great 5 setter in the QF in USO last year.
Tipsarevic chokes and Ferrer breaks...5 all.
Over to Armstrong.

Wooaahh.....Federer playing really well despite starting with a bad service game.
The rhytm of play is really fast. Woudl be worth comparing it with the 2006 matches.

Agree on Federer. In spite of not so clean scoreline, he looks pretty good. Hitting both FH and BH with conviction. Let's hope he keeps it up.

Yes, Robredo played really well against Evans, incredibly fit for an "oldie".
Fed back to his wonderful, healthy self put me in such good mood, I am going to have a glass of my special rose.
To the one and only, magnificent Fed!

What a decent match it is when two SBHs play....
Mind you, I don't remember ever seeing Robredo being so fast on his feet, like he is a different player!

Robredo hits so much harder than pre-injuries time. The game has changed again as players topspin more than ever.

Kohli is 1-9 vs Nadal. They played four times on clay and he got destroyed every time. Outside clay, however, he never lost in straight sets, so that is my silver lining in that match-up.

This match reminds me a lot the Fed Hass FO 09 match....where both were playing really well but in particular the opponent giving 100% and not missing but Fed still managed to lose the 2 first sets.

Robredo trying to buy every spare second available, by lying on the ground unnecessarily, by taking ridiculous challenges, next thing he'll be doing is icing his leg, did anyone watch Robredo vs Evans?
I reckon he'll run out of steam soon, he cannot sustain this tempo against Federer!
