Murray is just nutcase again. If he loses this, then only psychotherapist is a help for him.
Fed, come on!

Agreed, what he does now is for the audience only , not because he has the believe he still can win this tournament. A bit like RG final after 2011 after 2 sets

Yes Murray is so terrible on important points but Federer is so good at it. Tennis is so unfair as the draw clearly sorted that tournament. I am not a big fan of the semis separated by a day....though Socal woudl tell you it's a disadvantage.

If it has to be, then so be it. I rather have Fed lose in a final than in a semis. No matter who he gets to face in the final (including Nadal at RG )

edit: thougth you siad something different. I rather have Fed to lose today than in the final.

Now this where Fed's timing goes off as he is pretty exhausted. he has a bad record in 5th setter for a reason.....and I wrote that before he shanked that BH on BP.

Nah. I think where the field are so far back mentally, Roger will always have a chance to make semi's still. Judging by the feeds Andy could've made this match easier for himself when serving out. Now if he is doing at that as world number 3, I can't envisage anyone in the top 50 who would be comfortable serving for a match at the latter stage of a Slam other than Djokovic and Nadal.

Perhaps he can stay there, but nobody knows how he is going on. One match and can be a millestone. The tennis game is enormously tough nowadays.

It is tough, but the youngsters and current crop for the boundless energy and stamina they possess, they can't maintain composure when it really matters. I think that is why I think Feds has some life left in his career.

I can dare that this match was from the beggining in hands of Murray, just only his head prolonged the match.

Re: Australian Open 2013: Matches of the day : Day 12 25-Jan-2013
I think it's very important for Federer to keep that number 2 spot. He will have a chance to play finals with Murray v Djoko playing semis....and this is what can make a huge difference.
If anything today was quite positive as despite being tired, having a bad back and playing on slow court he stayed with Murray....though to be fair...he should have lost in 3 today if it was not for Murray's nerves.
I think Fed will have a good look at the French, Wimbledon and teh USO if they pace up those 3....which is likely to happen as I am not sure the crowd wants to have too many Djoko v Murray finals.

Agreed. Can't see Nole letting him off as easily. Not saying Federer let him off completely, just I think Nole will punish him more severely.

Unlike all of you, I think Federer could've won this match. He had a stupid lapse of concentration in the 4th set and allowed to be broken.
He had Murray on the ropes mentally, and that's where you beat Murray, not with the muscles or fresh legs.

Let us hope that he has. I was surprised that FedĀ“s back deteriorated his game so much from the match to match. It has hampered him so much. All great hitters with a good stamina know what to play against Fed. Let us stay positive with Fed.

The match lasted 240 minutes but how in how many of those did it look good for Rog? 5? 10? I think the body language of both men after the last point was typical too. Andy wasn't too ecstatic and Rog seemed to be in peace with the result.

No you need to cover the miles too. A lapse of concentration is also the result of tiredness anyway.noleisthebest wrote:.....and that's where you beat Murray, not with the muscles or fresh legs.

They were both in the same position at that stage in my opinion. I think you can easily lose focus regardless oh your physical condition.Tenez wrote:No you need to cover the miles too. To me, keeping the focus is the most underrated talent in a tennis player. Fed is usually very good there which is why he rules tie-breakers.
