Who Is Going To Win Rolland Garros 2023?

I think we have entered an era where words speak for themselves like never before (except during the first six days of history).

The stage is lit by the light of truth and everything is so easy to see (even for the blind ones).

So, no excuse for not making the right choice.

This aside, as the glory of spring is upon up, tennis season is warming up, too, and the second slam is coming up soon.

It's clay, it's Philipe Chatrier, it's Nadal...yet, nothing is the same as it once was.

It is also 22:22 and how fitting that in '23 one of the 2s will become a 3.

We all know that Nole IS the Best, still, while he is playing, this heart can't and will never get enough of seeing him lift trophies.
Especially the slam ones.

 Do you have something against Alcaraz too? What has he done now?

On the OP, I'll make this choice when the RG draw is out. The draw is very important in how the outcome may shape.

I'm not going into the draw rigging lane. I'm not going into 'who has historically got the toughest draws' either. Everyone gets the benefit of draws/upsets in the long run.


Its too difficult to write off Nadal given the record he has at RG.

Nole and Nadal are the top two favourites, and in that order for me.

I am not buying Nadal's injury card as that's been going on for too long to be believed.
Last year he won RG and then left Paris on crutches...he does it every time to elicit easy draw and it still doesn't help most of the time.

Regardless, he doesn't have many slams left in his legs, at 37, it's a miracle he is still going with his style of play.

Djokovic is definitely not favourite,  and Nadal has no hope.  Gonna be great watching him get beat.


The winner will be Alcaraz or Rune.

Both Alcaraz and Rune rely heavily on running like there's no tomorrow for their defence, similar to Nadal's and Murray's style, they don't spare energy; Med has a knack of counterpunching almost effortlessly on clay, he can wear them out in 5.

In fact, Rune and Alcaraz are very similar in more than one way.
Rune has this very punchable face and Alcaraz is just repulsive to look at, full stop.
They very much reflect the AI element in young generations, soulless and dead-eyed, almost like those robots from Bladerunner.

There are a lot of good Italian players, however I don't see any of them winning slams.

Back to RG, provided Nole is at least 90% fit, he is winning the thing, he is the best player there, easily.

Any interest on the women's side? Sabalaka is ready to be #1?

I didn't know he'd withdrawn and may have happened after I wrote it.  There's actually competition this year - hence why Djok isnt fave.

Alcaraz also makes NAdal and Djok look as one dimensional as they always were.

I like Djokovic persona more and more. I still very much dislike his shots but I would not mind him winning this FO as he carries a lot of my health and political views.

I still think he is far below the level he thinks he should be at. The way he shouted at Goran in the first set suggested genuine frustration. Goran seemed to shut up at that point and didn't seem to make more suggestions until the third set when things were much more relaxed. Even then, Goran seemed to be embarrassed. Not a good look for the team.

What exactly does Nole do?  He sits on the baseline like he's playing Pong.  He has absolutely no game plan.  No A and B game.  No variety.  The only reason he's been able to get away with it is because Fed was long past his best and we've had the biggest loser generation ever - We practically skipped a generation.  You best get ready to say ta ta to the one you keep sucking off - because his days are over.  Nadal's calling it quits because he knows the jig is up.  Nole be joining him soon after a good few beatings.  Alcaraz over 10 matches would give your one trick pony the smack down.

It's frightening how much difference there is between Alcaraz and Djok.  When Federer was at his best he was clearly N1.  Which reminds me... who is N1?  Clue - it isn't Nole.  So best get changing your name.

To start with, he plays to win. And he is very good at it, the best, actually.

In laymen language, he has a phenomenal return which stresses and pressurises his opponents, disarms them of serve advantage, which is more or less as Nole is always on serve. This is massive. Just ask Federer.
Then, there is his movement and elasticity which allows him to play brilliant defence and further stress the opponent.
He's got all the shots and as I've been saying for years (soon even decades ) he is one very, very intelligent man.
This is the bit which most mortals can't comprehend, which is fine.
They have the rest of the tour to entertain them.

Fed was good but Nole is better. Even with the bigger head, he still couldn't beat Nole with his SBH.

Nole Da Man was not only robbed of 2000 points he won in Wimbledon last year, he was not allowed to play in the US two years in a row.

It was excellent 2 sets. Alcaraz and his fitness needs lot of work. Winning bo5 is nothing like bo3.

Nole exposed Alcatraz's limits.

Nole came out of the blocks, the "number 1" didn't know what hit him.

It very much reminded me of Nole Nadal matches in a way except that unlike Nadal who invested his running only in retrieving, Alcatraz wants to do both attacking and retreiving at 100% and against THE BEST that just does not happen.

So glad he exposed this cheat. Another Nadal with better legs but less spin! And above all I want Djoko to erase Nadal from the GOAT contention! Which he will do!

For me everything is quite clear. Federer was unlucky to learn and start playing at the end of the SVing era. Had he been born 5 years later, he would have adopted the larger frame earlier and would have almost never lost to Djoko or Nadal like he almost never lost to teh players of his generation.

He was either very stupid not to have noticed his BH was a huge liability or he didn't trust his skill to be as good with the bigger racquet.

its a risky decision younger players nevrr had to take. Federer experienced at his most successful time a change of material and court conds that players 5 years younger did not experience. how would they have adapted had the conds reverted to SVing mainly ?

And more importantly this change of conds happened because Federer was H&S above everybody else. Djokovic and Nadal were never h&s above each other or the rest. This allowed Tennis to get through a successful phase....Essentially because Nadal and Djokovic provided the background to allow Federer to shine through. He is a genius the others aren't.

I understand all to well that Djok and NAdal had all surfaces slowed for them at the same time as talent utterly dried up.  We've now got only a few people on tour capable of beating Djok - because Nadal's finished too.  Djok isn't winning because he's better than Federer or past greats.  

He's winning because of tailor made conditions and no strength on tour.  One record that will never be beaten though is weeks consec N1 - a level of dominance that will remain unrivalled.
