Just heard that if he loses the second set 60 he is not through.

No that is only if he won first set 7:5 and lose second 6:0, he is into SF now very sure.

He is still a joy to watch. He has very bad patches nowadays but when relax, still the best by a mile.

Yes but playing 2 good games, then 3 bad ones, especially these break and then get broken back, is no good for my health.

Sure but that loss of sudden precision on serve is down to age, aching or muscle cramp. I don;t really know but that's the only way to explain that loss of precision which happens every now and then nowadays.Jahu wrote:Yes but playing 2 good games, then 3 bad ones, especially these break and then get broken back, is no good for my health.
This is what G and I saw clearly in that Wimby match v Berdych 2017..and now more and more frequent.

At least tonight he is on different level, Fleming approving it!!!
Rallying nicely from the back, DTL slice working superbly.
Break for 4:3!!! Slice again!!!

Compared to Kei match where he was hitting nearly every 1st/2nd serve of Kei for winners, this is super now (Fleming notes)

Nishi played well though. he must have injured himself to have lost so badly to both Kevin and Thiem.
Noone will make me believe Nishi was 100pc.

Fed made him look good that night, tonights Fed level would of beaten Nishi, but sure something happened to him, injury prone and inconsistent been his trademark all his career.

Re: WTF - London 2018 (and maybe a little bit of 'nextgen')
I cannot agree with that. A mature Nadal cannot beat that Djokovic, the younger Nadal would have been even more clueless. When Fed or Nalbandian made him look stupid on faster courts, Nadal was no more fighting or efficient than Zverev. It's about weapons.raiders_of_the_lost_ark wrote:
Just Compare Zverev to a young Nadal. How Nadal would lose a match in 2004-05. You may win but he would make you earn every bit of it.
Zverev has a series of tame endings and this shows his mental weakness.
Back then Nadal's game had an unseen power and spin which gave him hope to win on slow courts. On anything fast like the USO back then, he could not beat a seeded player for years.

Wouldn't that be great end to very tame year? Reach 100 titles with the record-extending 7th WTF. He had it on the platter last year but became complacent and lost it.Jahu wrote:Break again!!! Good, take the set, match, SF, F winnnnnnnnn 100 !!!!!
I hope he can play better this time.

Of course. We have had these discussions many times and on a lot of threads. I was talking about the manner of loss. Zverev show no fight if he gets behind in the match ( especially if he had his own opportunities to go ahead ). He has a lot of very poor final set finishes.
Young Nadal may have lost but wasn't folding into his shell like Zverev does.
Tenez wrote:Back then Nadal's game had an unseen power and spin which gave him hope to win on slow courts.
Unseen??Its been 14 years since he has been winning slams/TMS on clay setting records after records. How long his game has to be 'seen' before it loses its potency? Doesn't that suggest that there is something more to Nadal's game than just an unusual 'unseen' game?

Wimbledon QF was a much bigger match. Media potrays it. but all matches don't carry the same weight.

True but still Fed was expected to take that easy and it damn hurt him.
Now Vajda saying Djokos win over Nadal at W was a turning point for Djoko cause he beat the fear of loosing.
So Fed should of beaten Kev, then Djoko, then Nadal and take the W and leave Djoko in fear all year wining nothing, so Fed done a huge fuckup this year on Tennis world

How many times did that useless donkey Cilic refuse to come to the net in favour of being outlasted by Djok? He's brainless.
As for Nishikori.. is there ever a time when a player loses and you just accept they aren't as good as their opponent, Tenez?

I expect Federer to beat Zverev today, unfortunately Anderson has no chance so old Fed gets to lose more ground on the h2h with Djokovic tomorrow.

Re: WTF - London 2018 (and maybe a little bit of 'nextgen')
I am not too worried about the H2H between Fed and Djokovic. The fact it made it close last time around is good enough for me.
Having seen Djoko play yesterday v Cilic, he is certainly playing more aggessively, and closer to the baseline. Once again, we can see the shots keep improving after 30.

He's also brainless and doesn't approach the net. Zverev did against Fed and hopefully will v Djok as well.

We knew that from the beginning. Zverev's aim was always to become a better machine than Djoko and Murray. A Roadrunner v.2.bogbrush wrote:Is Lendl creating another machine?

One thing for sure is that Zverev is not going to win by going to the net. He is winning cause he is making Djoko run.Daniel wrote:He's also brainless and doesn't approach the net. Zverev did against Fed and hopefully will v Djok as well.

Lendl will be helping here big time. The raw material here is for a major monster, a Murray upgrade.

Has a Snoke/Ben Skywalker feel about "I saw raw untamed power!"
Frightening to think that his serve is up 10mph from the last WTF.
Norman and Lendl have this power lark sussed.

So much for Tenez assertion that net approaches don't work. He butchered Djok on that last point and has been playing smart all night.

Djokovic looks exhausted, he’s now serving promptly as if he’s lost heart.
