Halep in 2.
I can’t imagine her win any other way.

Re: Women's final
What boring, safe, grunting, mediocre tennis this is!
A glorified hitting session.
Gimmie back Serena and Sharapova any time!

Re: Women's final
Any payer that sends deliberate moonballs and balloons like Halep is doing does not deserve to win a slam.
So I am not surprised she hasn't won one so far.
The title should go to Stephens. At least she grunts less and clears the net lower.

Once again, Halep too passive....this is why I expected her to lose the first set.

Re: Women's final
It feels uncomfortably that an all-to-familiar version of Halep is struggling on the big occasion.
Listening on radio - horrible noises.
I was watching the women's Wimbledon Final 2004 the other day and neither of them made any noise at the beginning of the match - the intensity increased a bit as the match went on, but nothing compared to today. It's obvious that they can exhale breath when they hit their shots without making the the noises. They are obviously intended to gain an advantage.
Wake up the WTA!

Yes but moonballing won many slams....we were using this term (moonballing) already when Wilander won it in 82. It might be even older.

I have never seen any player send balloons like Halep in at this stage of a slam...probably at all.
And in my club those who play them are the lowest of the low in anyone's book.

Re: Women's final
It's interesting how the "angles" haven't got to women's tennis yet, and Halep could really do with them to break through Stephen's excellent counterpunching.
Instead, she is just whacking the ball brainlessly like Thiem.
(mind you, Thiem goes for the lines and is eons ahead of Halep in every aspect of the game.)

Oh Halep - breaks aren't worth jack if you don't consolidate them.

Re: Women's final
Ostapenko was such a worth and fantastic winner last year.
These two...I can't believe they managed to get past the entire field to the final...
Halep's ridiculous grunting makes her appear like she is attacking, but she is not...all she is doing is whacking the ball as hard as possible pretty safely.
Shephens produced 3-4 semi-decent shots in the whole match and that's all.
There is not even the proverbial catfight!

Re: Women's final
Probably a better dymanic for Halep to reach a decider by having to fight from behind than the other way around. Surely she can't reset and choke again?

If she fails now, it's Novotna on triple acid and we'll need more than the Duchess of Kent.

Good; well done. Good to see #1 a slam winner. In fact, #1, #2, #3, and #4 are the current slam holders in the women's game.

Is she now emaciated or very big - she had a pretty nasty illness.
The poor woman went from one extreme to the other, but I think she's over the worst of it https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/tennis/3754934/wimbledon-marion-bartoli-french-open-pictures/
