perRFect, though Haase won't be easy as a local boy, Fed hopefully in better mood tomorrow.

Needs to be. That was very tentative earlier on.
Hopefully Haase will offer up more cheap opportunities, be more inconsistent. Kholi is a proper player.

Yeah, and we can't expect Fed to be everyday in God mode.

I wouldn't worry about him being a local boy. The crowd will be rooting for Federer, fiercely.ÂJahu wrote:perRFect, though Haase won't be easy as a local boy, Fed hopefully in better mood tomorrow.
Haase has a solid serve and will be -on this court- hard to break. I expect a match like today.
I'll be glad if it's overÂ

What’s happening with the other match?
Who won?
The score jas been 6:4 for the last hour.
Doesn’t matter.
Main thing is Fed won.

I saw a short of today's match. Not impressed by mouvement again. As fed would say nicely (what he said in AO final anyway): " The stress froze my legs maybe"!

That was way too close for comfort!
I don't know whether I should be happy that I did not see it, and thus saved myself from a stroke/heart-attack combination. Or should I feel bad that I missed an exciting match as Fed is inching - hopefully - to make history yet again?

I was scared? That is not it. I am scared.Jahu wrote:Where is SB? He was scared a little heheÂ
Certainly, one would think Fed should beat Haase. But that will also make it extra disappointing if he does not - so on balance it is still rather stressful.
It would be huge shame if Fed were to lose tomorrow, then somehow fail to perform well enough to catch up Rafa in Dubai, and then start dropping points in IW, Miami, Wimbledon, and see his chance to reclaim #1 disappear.

GP/NITB: Â Have fun tomorrow. Â This is working out quite nicely for you. Â Fed should - hopefully - win but there is just enough uncertainty following today's results that the match itself should be exciting. Â Hopefully it will all end well tomorrow.

Re: Rotterdam - Federer's quest for #1
Apparently, Rafa was in the Netherlands today. Â Here is an excerpt from Fed's presser after Kohli match:
journo: Â Rafa is in Amsterdam tonight.
Rog: Â Oh. Why is he here?
journo: Â For his foundation.
Rog: Â Oh. Â He should come around.
journo: Â ...to celebrate with you tomorrow.
Rog: Â No, not for that, but just, like, to hang out maybe. Â I am lonely here. Â My family is not here.
journo: Â He should come over.
Rog: Â Or I have to go over, you know. Â He is the world No 1.

Re: Rotterdam - Federer's quest for #1
Maybe tonight will be less tense - falling short the match before would have been a nightmare after such a good start in his first match. At least now he's gotten himself to the start of the match where #1 is on his racquet, which in one sense is a large part of what he came to Rotterdam for.
We'll see.
We'll see.

Re: Rotterdam - Federer's quest for #1
Standing back from the #1 quest (I know, I know), it's a more than decent QF lineup for a 500 - Fed/Dimi/Berdych/Goffin and two interesting Next Gen players in Rublev/Medvedev, not to mention Super Seppi and home interest in Haase. Â
All that despite Zverev and Stan having fallen by the way. Krajicek must be dead pleased with his anniversary tournament - I wonder how much he had to shell out for them all to come......?

I cannot believe it...sat on the plane which can’t take off because the door is not closing, so we are waiting for an engineer to “fix” it, and of he can’t fix it we have to get on another plane and nobody knows when.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If it wasn’t tragic it would be comic!

I am surprised to see how you are all so excited about Fed #1 race. It would be nice i agree but in the grand scheme of things? I don’t seem to care nearly half as much as you. If anything destituing Nadal of it is more exciting. I understand he would steal another record from one of the greats but besides that i cannot see much point....

Re: Rotterdam - Federer's quest for #1
Come on Tenez, its pretty big in the scheme of things if you get to #1 aged 36 after a 6-month injury lay-off when you have only played 13 tournaments in the last 12 months. At least defer to Federer himself, who thinks it would be a very big thing and has been happy to say so.
One reason why it might be so big now for him came out of his answers to questions about Chung when he said he expected big things, top ten, but did not want to say that Chung would win slams and be #1 partly because of the unfair pressure, and partly because when all these things were predicted for him it somehow felt expected and less exceptional when he got there. Well now, for the first time in his career perhaps, he is exceeding expectations and I bet he's loving it - why not?

Re: Rotterdam - Federer's quest for #1
Fair enough. But surely you would think different if you would be there tonight. For me personally that's where the exitement comes from. Seeing him live with the #1 on the line, makes things bigger.Tenez wrote:I am surprised to see how you are all so excited about Fed #1 race. Fingers crossed folks.
Haase is one of those mercurial talents. I remember watching him properly for the first time around 8 years ago and thinking this guy has all the shots to do serious damage.

Indeed.. when you consider the effort AM put into reaching the top spot it really puts into perspective what a phenomenal achievement it is to do it in this manner, at this age.

Re: Rotterdam - Federer's quest for #1
Still think I was being over the top suggesting nerves and day to day form can have a huge effect? Fed may still pull through, but this game isn't as simple as goat always wins. Esp when chasing WN1. There is a lot more to it than some of you guys give credit. I've seen Fed implode under the highest pressure too many times in his later years to ever believe it's a foregone conclusion.
