Re: Tennis News
Yes, I noticed that...which is why I switched to tennistv, but now and then when it's davis cup or stg, I use those free streams...and all the adds you have to look at and wade through before settling with a match...only to find
Inbox clogged with all sorts of junk mail later...
Instead of getting simpler it's gong the other way.
Still, we get to see almost all matches we like now and that was impossible in the past.
But it's annoying when good things and solutions get unnecessarily ruined for no obvious reason.

I am very sorry to hear about your incident.
I lived in a country where people were beaten to pulp in similar circumstances.
Horrible things happen all over the world all the time.
And of course I feel sorry for Blake having to go through such a humiliating experience.
My problem is the unnecessary, in-your-face-use of the words "black" and "white" in that article.
So for me, it's pure propaganda.

Re: Tennis News
Did anyone notice how many top tennis players have fallen ill and hospitalised recently?
Kvitova had mono, now Safarova is in hospital with some bacterial infection.
Karlovic nearly died from some virus a few years ago, Benus Williams had severe il ess, too, then there is Soderling, Fish and quite a few other less famous WTA players.
And that's just what we read about.
I know they travel a lot through different time zones etc, but find it strange how weak their immune system is for fit young people.
I suspect it maybe partly to pushing their bodies over the natural limit inorder to gain ever higher levels of fitness required, but wonder how much of it is due to chemicals and "medicines" they probably take.
These are all young 20+ year olds...many will trust their coach and just pop the pill...women seem to be less robust than men there.

I think a lot has to do with the travelling and extreme exhaustion which probably makes them vulnerable to viruses. There might also be cases of blood transfusion and so on....However I agree professional sport nowadays is not very healthy.

I woudl have been happy about the news but this was done is an ugly, behind the back stabbing and worse to put Noah instead who is just a big mouth with a big ego.

Re: Tennis News
Looks like Noah means business!
=============================
''A framework is required,'' said Noah, a day after replacing Arnaud Clement, who was fired last week following a disappointing 2015 campaign and growing tension between him and the players. ''Once the framework has been defined, if someone goes beyond the framework, he is out, without warning.''
Noah spoke at Roland Garros stadium, where he became the last Frenchman to win a Grand Slam tournament, back in 1983. The contrast between his authoritarian speech and his relaxed looks was striking: Sporting a grey cap, a cardigan on his bare chest and a long necklace, Noah said the current French players need to be chaperoned in a different way than over the past three years.
''I used authority in the past, I won't be afraid to do it again,'' said Noah, who will captain the team for the third time after guiding France to Davis Cup titles in 1991 and 1996.
Noah, whose biggest success as a player came at the French Open, already spoke with France's main players - Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Richard Gasquet, Gael Monfils and Gilles Simon. He said that they all agreed on his project.
''I have a clear plan,'' said the 55-year-old Noah. ''It's new to them, they never heard such a thing before,'' said Noah, without revealing the practical details of his approach. ''I told them that if we give it all, all together, we have a chance to win.''
France last won the Davis Cup in 2001 and finished runner-up three times since, in 2002, 2010 and 2014, the year Clement led the team to the final. After the loss to Switzerland last year, Noah had already expressed his interest in taking over, on the condition that players supported his nomination.
France's 3-1 loss to Britain in the quarterfinals this summer was a key factor in the federation's decision to sack Clement, whose deteriorated relationship with Tsonga also weakened his position.
''I know that we could have done better against Switzerland and against Britain,'' Noah said. ''I've read this morning that our players can't come out of their shells on important Davis Cup matches. But why? My job is to find the answer.''
Noah, who also captained France to its maiden victory in Fed Cup in 1997, has since reinvented himself into a successful singer. He is is adamant he hasn't lost touch with the current generation of players and that his age won't be a problem.
I feel like I never left, I've been in contact with the tennis world forever.''
===========================
Shame he didn't run the team last year, that loss in the final on home soil must've be a heartbreak even of it was to Federer!
Even I was really annoyed with Clement!
He had zero charisma and inspiration.

Noah is a heavy user of grass (not the surface one). I think that's how he wants to relax his players.

I think Tsonga was injured last year in that final and yes Gasquet is tensed but he has produced great matches as well in DC....all depends against who he plays.

Yes, but both shrink if they stop playing well. Simon is different, Monf just doesn't care.

Re: Tennis News
France could have been in that DC final. It was really weird to see Murray coming back from fatigue state v Simon. It actually threw Simon off completely at the end.
We have won the DC quite a few times anyway but i agree the last time was 10 or 15 years ago. Would be good to have it back.

Well, this was a perfect year for France.
Simon played so well in Wimbledon.
And what is the matter with Tsonga!!!
Maybe he should switch to SBH!

That was to do with politics...I don't know much about what he does there, but remember that clip you posted last year...Ma colere?
He does come across a bit infantile...
I can imagine how vintage French can't stand him.
He is cheapening your values.

I think there is going to be tension in the team, I think Noah has last his time. I woudl have liked to see a less cheaply charismatic person.
But let's see....I'll try to keep an open mind.

Yes, looks a bit dodgy...
Though unlike Nadal, Serena is a very talented player.
Without those muscles that definitely look unnatural, it's a big question how much she would have won.
