How Many Slams Has Nadal Got Left In Him?
this question cam be rephrased like:
Can Nadal overtake Federer in number of slams?
When will Nadal retire?
etc...
He is turning 32 in June (or is it May) next year.
According to this article:
https://www.express.co.uk/sport/tennis/896668/Rafael-Nadal-Roger-Federer-Grand-Slams
He seems he’s prepared to play as long as it takes, or his body allows him.
We know Nadal almost always gets easy draws, so no point in talking about next gen etc...even if they become a real danger, thay will be kept away from Nadal’s half, quarter etc
I reckon he’s got at least another three years in him.
As for slams, maybe 5. Bummos.

As everybody knows here....When it comes to Nadal's longevity I have always been wrong. But it's about time I fix this once and for all.
He won;t win another slam. If anything he may lose all of them if he turns out to be the next Froome or Lance.

Re: How Many Slams Has Nadal Got Left In Him?
A whole career has yielded 5 Slams off clay so I see no reason to believe there’ll be many more that way.
10 at RG suggests there could be more but it all depends on health, Zverev/Thiem development, and Djokovic.
I struggle to see him adding another 4 Slams. One more for a Federer and he’s secure.

He could’ve won AO last year.bogbrush wrote:A whole career has yielded 5 Slams off clay so I see no reason to believe there’ll be many more that way.

Problem is, who is there to stop him in 2018?
If he wins 2 in 2018, for example, he’ll bust himself to reach the other two somehow...
To me, he has more chance to win 4 than Federer 1.
Federer looked extremely fragile (physically) in the second half of 2017.
But with the way the filed is atm and draws...anything can happen.
AO is Federer’s best chance in 2018, in my ooinion.

I would say Wimbledon is still his best chance. That's where the others are least comfortable.

Yes, skills wise, he is safest in Wimbledon, esp if he avoids Kyrgios, but with Kyrgios you never know...he is so fragile and inconsistent in more than one way...which is why he fared relatively poorly on slams so far.Tenez wrote:I would say Wimbledon is still his best chance. I think Federer is happy in AO.
Especially after AO17.
Also, Laver is there, and the two have a very special connection. In a way, Laver holds the torch which he will pass on to Fed once he “goes”.
He is like a tennis father to Fed.
I have a feeling the Ozzie tennis legends may have put their collective foot down about speeding the conds last year and good in them!
I think it’s because of Laver that Fed cried in that 2009 ceremony.
And Oz does have a sunny, fresh vibe of the new world. I was there only once, and it gives that young feeling when everything is possible.
There is so much light in the air.
Plus, it’s the beginning of the year, out in all that sunshine and luminant blue skies with 19 slams under his belt, far away from cold and grey sky of Europe.
His family loves it there, too...so Fed will ne happy and light...very different from the deep passion and throbbing heart he gets in Wimbledon.
Also, Nadal seems not 100 %, Djokovic will be without confidence, Stan is a question mark, it will be the young players who will be a threat and none have been past QF tjere I think.
We’ll see.

He gets beaten there by anyone with power, ranking notwithstanding.Tenez wrote:I would say Wimbledon is still his best chance. That's where the others are least comfortable.

If he gets a draws like this year... he can easily win more. He shouldnt have won shit this year, but got away with it time and time again.
