London Marathon Empty London Marathon

Post by Veejay Sun Apr 23, 2017 6:37 pm

just looking a the highlights 35 year old woman beats the rest of the field...sounds like whats going on in tennis
to run 26 miles in less then 2h:20 min is just insane!!
they are literally sprinting all that way
prize money is an absolute disgrace for the difficulty of what they are achieving
only $55 000 for the winners
2nd place $30 000
3rd $22:500
4th $15 000
compare that with semi finalists and finalists let alone the winner of a grand slam
$55 000 is around what the winner of a first round would get at a grand slam

Yeah but it's running, no much IQ/skills needed, and these top marathon people run 6-7 marathons a year, not a bad earner.

you have to make the top 4 places to even earn a living doing it
running a marathon competitively is nowhere near as simple as it may seem
if you take into consideration the pace and endurance, what they are doing is incredibly difficult not to mention what you put your body through in the process
the prize money is pathetic if you take what the best athletes in other sports are earning into consideration
