Fed 3045 on the race.
ATP moves to 4'th overtaking Rafa and Roanic with 4305.

I agree. As the match went on Stan's was better but I suspect Federer was getting tired....or the heat got to him. I am not sure but he certainly dropped his level in that second set.

Typical of Fed in that last game. He ups his game on important games. Puts the pressure on his opponent..even if tired.
Funny speech from Stan. Again crying cause tired.....not because he lost.

Is anyone here going to any tournament this year? Or we're collectively all poor?
Hoping for another Basel this year, same as 2011 and Fed to win again

It's quite a thing to trash a Jimmy Connors 'oldest' record by 4 years!!

But again, twice in a row, Fed plays a good first set and an average (bad by his standard) 2nd set.
I see him still fragile physically (because of his age of course) and he mentions his fitness at every interview.

Re: ATP 1000: Indian Wells
Good match. It went kind of how I expected. Fed won quite comfortably - pretty much broke Stan every time he needed to.
This is his best start to the year since 2006, except that this time around he is beating Rafa. Maybe for old times' sake he should tank a match against Andy somewhere.

Re: ATP 1000: Indian Wells
I am not sure. Fed's backhand was not as phenomenal as against Rafa and Stan's BH's power can look awe-inspiring, but I thought Fed held his own quite well with his BH.Tenez wrote:gallery play wrote:HAve to say: today the more dangerous BH is stan's..Not from the start but as the match progresses

Post match BH stats that they showed on the screen in fact looked very good for Roger:
Fed: 8W, 8UE
Stan: 2W, 10UE

Luckyyy, hope you get the tickets.
So Fed in the race has more points then Andy, Djoko and Nadal combined

Maybe you can set up a meeting with Nitb and Tenez. To discuss in real life which Federer is better.Daniel wrote:Jahu wrote:Is anyone here going to any tournament this year? Or we're collectively all poor?

Re: ATP 1000: Indian Wells
Nah...everybody knows which Federer is better, including Daniel. He just doesn't want to admit it. It's not even close. Yesterday's match shows it very clearly: How important was it for Fed to keep his own on the BH? any soft BH shot from Fed woudl have been hammered by Stan....at best Fed woudl have been able to defend better and longer but with Stan's power and angles it woudl have been in vain.

Re: ATP 1000: Indian Wells
Come on second set was not bad!! Actually first set was boring, second got a little drama and more fight.
You can say Fed got tired or Stan woke up, but I'd still give Fed more chance to win the third set, he can compose and focus when behind.

Re: ATP 1000: Indian Wells
Bet 365 cuts the match as soon as it's finished (thankfully they at least showed the handshake yesterday) so I am yet to see Stan's tears.
Just saw the highlights today with very happy Fed lifting that trophy high and proud.
It's so nice to see him happy. He looked as happy as in AO.
Though nothing will ever beat that shocked-disbelieving-eyes full of tears&pain-fistpumping jumping moment when the penny dropped he actually won the the whole thing!

Re: ATP 1000: Indian Wells
Winning the first slam of the year was crazy....but backing it up by winning the first TMS1000 while beating Nadal again is astounding!
Just bit lacking, and of importance though, is not having played Djoko or Murray in process.

Yeah, I'm not sure how such a match goes right now. I could see him blowing Murray away in particular but equally it could be a roadrun too far.

Re: ATP 1000: Indian Wells
I would certainly not be backing him up in a third set again them....though he did well v Nadal in AO. But Nadal was tired himself.

Not just beating - thrashing!

Murray has never been a problem for Fed in slams.
Nole is not his old self any more.
Even if he was, Fed would have had an upper hand with those fast balls...similar to Dubai last year.
