62 Rublev in the 2nd set. Looks like chidu is having some treatment.
Chidu has always played ugly...just because he's Fed's good friend doesn't mean he plays like him....
I thought Rublev was tanking in the first set...don't kniw why I have a bad feeling he may be in the claws of betting mafia...not as a regular customer but in these small tournaments, mostly set betting.

Is anyone watching Khachanov teaching Troiki how to play tennis?
Very impressive. Pouille and teh rest won't have it easy!

I have never seen so much power and consistency from both wings from a yougster. His DTL FH is devastating,

I only saw him once earlier this year, I remember the big serve, he didn't look consistent, more like a basher.
What is his length like?

So, Murray IS playing Beijing after all...i.e. he is desperate to try and grab number one.
Draw:

Pouille in Nadal's quarter.
Nobody to bother Murray till the semis and his flat hitting version - Alexandar Zverev.

Interesting that Stan is skipping this 500 week.
Tokyo draw "lighter" but good: Nishi, Monfils, Simon, Cilic, Goffin, Kyrgios...

Why isn't Chung playing any of those? at least try to qualify. What a lazy B*

Interesting first round between Zverev and Thiem.
I am not sure Murray has it that easy.

I didn't nitice that one...looks like a fix to stop Thiem qualifying for WTF.
Why did he ask for a WC and not get a regular seeding...
And who is there to bither him...Sock? Agut?Tenez wrote:I am not sure Murray has it that easy.
I'd like to see him play Zverev.

Maybe he has a bad agent...or no "team"... Shame, he was so exciting with his easy FH a few years ago.

I think Chung and Khach have very similar GH. Khach's is weird as he keeps his racket a head of him before pulling back at teh last moment but the whip is similar to Chungs.
yes Agut can cause trouble.

I thought Chung was less physical, his tennis was almost fun...Khach reminds me a little of JJ...almost violent shots.

yes a bit of JJ in Khach but a much better player. I like the fact he goes for broke and seems the perfect anti Roadrunner.
I think he is going to be very very good.

Yes, he has better shots than JJ, and certainly not in panic to end them with dropshots like JJ does/did.
And not a calculating type loke Vesely...
Wouldmbe good to see him on a big scene.
Like this, you have a feeling he'll vanish same way he appeared...out of nowhere.
So many players have a good patch and then disappear.
The thing is, does he have brains to want to crate a bit, to improve, build his game, or just to continue to bash...
How hungry he is, all about "work" these days...

Well he is no Federer for sure. But I think he will produce a very impressive tennis very soon. I actually believe he will find the RRunners easy to play and beat them very soon.

I dunno...I really think these very tall players can't produce anything beautiful.Tenez wrote:Well he is no Federer for sure. But I think he will produce a very impressive tennis very soon.
At the end of the day, problem is Khach is a basher.
I'll try to watch him next time...to find a glimpse of something enjoyable
For someone who can hit the FH with a whip and seems athletic, wouldn't it be nice if he was looser like Monfils.
Tenez wrote: I actually believe he will find the RRunners easy to play and beat them very soon.
You mean he is going to be Nole's R1 opponent in Shanghai?
Either him or Delpo...
The key for him beating RRs will be how they handle his serve.
He looks more natural and relaxed than Raonic.

Pouille playing his first match in Beijing, in Tokyo - Kyrgios-Harrison.
Funny how Harrison looks totally passe with his game, though he is only 24.
Paire has another disappointing R1 result, after Tipsarevic last week now a loss from Cilic in three sets.
He said recently how he feels anyone can beat him...despite him hitting the ball great in practice.
So he lost his confidence...
I think he is too excitable and lives his life on a constsnt high, being good looking and attractive to media and sponsors, also his fiancee a "sexy" pop star, always in the limelight.
Shame he can't seem to find the balance, it's not easy being a tennis pro these days...
Even some stupid poltronic article in Serbian's Blic today how Djokovic's priorities have changed, he now wants to spend more time with the family blah blah...like he's the only one on tour with a child.
I din't believe a word of it.
Just a smokescreen.

Did anyone see Pouille's match?
Just as I decided to renew my subscription with tennis.tv they are not allowing me to now - only monthly/daily pass.
Apparently it will be sorted in a few days..I can just imagine!
Looks like he stormed through - 6:1 6:2.
Don't know what form Lu is now, but last year was a sapping grinder, so glad Lucas blew him off the court.
Playing the winner of Dimi-Johnson next, that should be good!

You know, Pouille is the only reason why I wanted to renew my tennistv subscription today...I am really not interested in watching anyone this year. He's got the spark of life in his tennis.
I even watched some youtube clips of him....and Federer's BH....
All these new young players are just grunting bashers.
And with Murray the predetermined number one looming ahead...
I keep wondering if that guy from the taxi in Wimbledon this summer who told me Nole's tested positive and they have his sample in Lausanne - was right!
Maybe all this is a silent ban.

He was allowed to play Wimbledon, USO and he has played other ATP tournaments too, so I seriously doubt it's anything else but his shoulder injury that keeps him out.

They've got a long way to go before they can get their own thread, in my books at least.

Bloody Thiem! I lost nearly all my gains in that match! That's what happens when you bet without seeing!
A very expensive but good lesson on the risk of betting! (Not that I had not learnt before!).

I saw Thiem lost the second set 6:1, so assumed Zverev got warmed up and was likely to win.
Yes, mistake to bet without watching, that's how I made almost all my losses...and the problem is I usually go with the heart in those cases...
Tennis broadcasting has got from bad to worse.
Tnnis tv now offering only daily (6.99 and monthly 14.99) passes, no way!
Apparently they are going back to annual subscription "in October" (which year I wonder...)
I even read WTA is in such trouble with the state of women's tennis they want to get rid of the third set and inteoduce super tie-break!!!!
I don't know what goes through brains of people who run tennis and tennis websites...

Great TB from Piuille.
Impressed by the first point, on his serve, 17 shot rally, never panicked, cool as ice.
I think that first point won him the TB.
He is really confident now.

Pouille loses 2nd set on inexperience.
Relaxed when he served for the match. Didn't choke, just dropped focus, in a way - almost too confident.
Two sets all now after the TB.
Very interested to see what happens NOW.

And Dimi wins in the 3rd with ine break of serve...
Shame Lucas lost the won match, but it will be a good lesson for him.
Now with Dimi playing Nadal in QF we can look forward to Murray-Nadal final.

No stream for Ferrer-Zverev which is probably a better match, gone the third set.

What is Rafael Nadal doing playing doubles? Can't he cut it as a singles player anymore?
It's amazing how much he has changed since all the cheating accusations,it just confirms what I've always said
This is the kind of player he really is without the drugs
Com'on Dimitrov kick Murrays ass!!

Re: ATP 250/500 2016 - Basel, Vienna
I m travelling so have not followed up much tennis but I just saw a clip ofrom Nadal v Dimi. It's quite interesting as Nadal was playing so close to the lines....yet he got hammered. The reason is simple: players can now easily handle his shots and more importantly they are not afraid of the 20 shots rallies anymore. Dimi was running like crazy....but Nadal was force to stand close to the lines and at this game many are better than Nadal. Dimi played very solid....that's all one needs nowadays. Rafa game is so passé. He won't win another slam.
Typical case of the tour catching up with a one trick poney player.

This point at 7mn51...Dimi moves like Djoko and nadal is forced to go for broke and makes the mistake first.
Lots of long rallies and unlike in the past, players have caught up physically and the talent makes again the difference...at least against Nadal. Versus a bit more tactical players like Djoko and Murray it might still be a bit harder.
