Compare her to Serena and you'll see what I mean.
Average serve, and mainly base-line "going for it", no/very little forward movement. Unhoned, simple game, very raw talent.

Yes....Especially since very little is said about the nature of his injury and the keep providing confusing statements.

But Serena is twice the size of Robson and Serena puts a bit more spin than Robson.

No but fought hard, saving 8 match points. It was too difficult in the end to beat Mr Stosur. Mr Stosur played well in the end to seal the match. And yes there will be no female player in USO WTA final. The final will be between Mr Williams and Mr Stosur.

Actually, having seen them both live, Laura is pretty big, as well, not as defined as Serena, but strong frame and lot of natural power. Serena is heavier because of the lower part of her body but despite that is a lot quicker than Robson. Robson reminds me a little of young Ivanovic, except that Ivanovic has always been a lot more aggressive than Robson.
Obviously she's great for GB tennis, but I can see her being prematurely overhyped. She really needs to work on here serve, that could make a massive difference for her entire game.

He cant still possibly be injured, the last time he claimed he had a similar injury when he withdrew from Miami,he was back on tour in 3 weeks

She's had a really good run, showed a lot of promise for the future.Didnt see the match with Stouser but saving 8 match points against Stouser just proves that

Stosur is a proven mental midget, so it's more like she squandered those match points than the other way round.

Clijsters - Height: 5' 8 1/2'" (1.74 m) Weight: 150 lbs. (68 kg)
Robson - Height: 5' 11" (1.80 m) Weight: 148 lbs. (67 kg)
Henin - Height: 5' 5 3/4'' (1.67 m) Weight: 126 lbs. (57 kg)
Amanmuradova - Height: 6' 3" (1.90 m) Weight: 163 lbs. (74 kg)
Stosur - Height: 5' 7 3/4" (1.72 m) Weight: 143 lbs. (65 kg)
Kirilenko - Height: 5' 9" (1.74 m) Weight: 132 lbs. (60 kg)
Azarenka - Height: 6' (1.83 m) Weight: 145 lbs. (66 kg)
Serena - Height: 5' 9" (1.75 m) Weight: 155 lbs. (70 kg)
Venus - Height: 6' 1" (1.85 m) Weight: 160 lbs. (72.5 kg)
They come in all shapes and size.
Bigger size does not imply doping. The universal mind set of doping to get big is strange. Does Venus look like Stosur at all, but she is taller and heavier by 7 kgs.
Petrova - Height: 5' 10 1/4" (1.78 m) Weight: 165 lbs. (75 kg)
Sharapova - Height: 6' 2" (1.88 m) Weight: 130 lbs. (59 kg)
In this case 10 cm difference in height, but a 16kg difference in weight.
In the Robson-Stosur case, 8 cm difference, but a 2 kg difference in weight.
Unfounded accusations show the accuser and the accused, both.

Not sure about the weight but frame and muscles do matter. A woman cannot have muscle like Stosur and Serena unless they are doing something dodgy. It is unnatural for women to have muscles.

5/6 correct till now for me. But Now I want to lose one. I want Isner to win this. Match delayed due to rain and ladies match still going into the 3rd set.

Karnam Malleswari didn't have huge muscles. She competed in 54 kg category. She is small but strongly built.

No, I like Isner. I always like big servers, they bring a variety in today's tennis. I love it everytime they fire in a monster ace when they need to save a BP. Or kicks one in so high it goes above the opponent's head. Though Isner has weaknesses I like him for whatever he brings to tennis. Plus he appears a likeable player on and off court.
I also like Kohli, but in this match I want Isner to win.
I'm not changing my prediction, what I picked, I picked. But I want Isner to win.

Today was the first I ever saw Laura play a singles match (I saw some of the Olympic doubles final on TV before). She did not strike me as overly passive, if anything she goes for too much and makes a lot of errors. She needs to do something with the ball toss on her serve - that is where she reminds me of Ivanovic most.noleisthebest wrote:Robson reminds me a little of young Ivanovic, except that Ivanovic has always been a lot more aggressive than Robson.

Re: US open 2012: ATP Matches of the Day: Day 7
Watching Nole play live gave me even stronger feel of a certain metronomic quality to his game. He played very very well, but it is all extremely robotic - keep chasing everything down and returnig it all well and deep patiently until the opponent either makes an outright error or gives him a ball that he can attack. It is quite efficient but it bores me silly. He is more defensive than Laura.
But he did play very well, and not his fault that this style of game works. So congrats on another match played well. The next round should show what form he really is in - Wawrinka will lose but will not go down without a fight I think. If Nole beats him say 3, 3 and 4, then I will really be quite impressed.

Isner losing it in his head. Allowing frustration to get in fast. And gets broken.

Isner gets a point penalty by Bernades.. . For arguing and racket abuse. Bernades never had any guts do it to Nadal when he absolutely disrupted play sitting down like a mad kid refusing to play on. He refused to accept the umpire's decision and called in the match referee. And all the while Berdych is waiting.
Wasn't it him that gave a time warning to Cilic when facing a BP?
Clearly different rules for different players.

Isner playing too far back from the court. Can't do that with that kind of slow movement. Clearly he is not thinking and too mad about the foot-fault

Re: US open 2012: ATP Matches of the Day: Day 7
Isner losing his head and the match. Oh.. how many times we see a player losing it all because of a lines call or an umpire decision which they thought wasn't right. Fed lost his Usopen 2009 final because of that. Blake his chance to be in Olympics 2008 finals.
Keeping a cool head is so important in a match.

We can throw those figures out of th ewindow...certainly the weight ones. Those "ladies" are not going to reveal their real weight.

What EXACTLY is your point here LF? Who's accusing and who's the accused?

Robson too passive for her size and power.
Thats cause she's the bigger doping in the womans game...thats what you look like when you use Nandrolone
Interesting read from Federer,at this stage of the tour, there isn't that much point coming back cause theres only the WTF thats of any significant importance so I wouldnt be surprised if he doesnt come back till next season
The speculation of the silent ban continues....

Wasn't it him that gave a time warning to Cilic when facing a BP?
Clearly different rules for different players.
Vey surprising that so much anger is on display here, ROTLA...
Cilic composed himself at the back of the court but had taken too long in the opinion of umpire Pascal Maria who gave him a time warning. Cilic did not challenge the umpire but it clearly rattled him as he served a double fault to lose serve and at that point the set went.

Where did I say anything about 'huge' muscles?
Malleswari - Height: 158 cm/ 5' 2" Weight: 63 kgs / 139 lbs
Stosur - Height: 5' 7 3/4" (1.72 m) Weight: 143 lbs. (65 kg)

LF athough I agree with you most of the time but Sam just does not look like a female, she very much reminds me of Flo Jo and the Belarussian hammer throw athelte who got done for doping.

I gave you an example of Akgul Amanmuradova, and I remember NITB's comment regarding her on v2/606, IIRC.

Okay it was Pascal maria, and not Bernades. Fine. But why is my anger surprising to you. What should I feel instead? Be happy about it? Why should it not anger me that umpires show different standards for different player? I've seen far worse than what Isner did and no point penalty was ever given. On court coaching is cheating. Cheating against your opponent to win. Even on those occasions, I don't see any point penalty being given even for the repeat offenders. Isner smashed a ball in the crowd and later on in the next service game continued arguing and broke his racket. Bad behaviour, absolutely. Understandable? Yes, it was foot fault for which a player just can't appeal. Point penalty?? I've seen far worse not being given just because it involved a top player. Disrupting play and sitting down and refusing to play and calling the referee and refusing to accept umpires's authority is insulting and disrespecting sport. Still Bernades couldn't even give a point penalty. But Isner was given.

Scared of Nadal but not Isner. Hence point penalty to Isner but not Nadal.
