Match Of The Year - Page 2 Empty Re: Match Of The Year

However Djokovic has not won it yet!!! he shoudl have taken it to Nadal 3 years ago....yet he fails again this time versus STan.

On the positive side. Stan played great and Djoko should have less regret this time than losing to Nadal 2 years ago because of a stupid net touch after a smash

Interesting.
On the one hand there is the unclosed gap in his mind for not winning it, and on the other there is the answer for why he hasn't won it screaming at him.

In either losses he has nooone else to blame but himself (regardless of scheduling etc).
And that must be the most difficult part to live with as the truth simply won't leave him in peace.
Had he played to win rather than not to lose...

Then again, he may just rationalise the loss and loosen up (properly, not cosmetically until the next year as has always been the case).
Have we had that happen with any other player in the past, btw?

Nadal...probably relieved in a strange way. Just a matter of convincing sponsors now.

Everybody has got to live with unachieved work. Shoudl Djoko win Wimby again, RG will be forgotten very quickly.

Metaphysically speaking, yes.
Still, answering the question from the other thread "Losers, what have you lost?" is quite individual.
In the end, time bundles them all in the same basket down the road...which is why I went. The here and now rarely lie.
Just a merry-go-round.

Match Of The Year - Page 2 Empty Re: Match Of The Year

At the end of the day, it was not the match of the year, this is for sure. Djokovic has the advantage each time he meets Nadal and meeting him in the QF made it more of a formality. However, the final was the match of the tournament and he failed there. In a way, the winner is Swiss tennis (even on the woman side they have had some achievement) as even though Federer lost in QF, he lost to Stan who was playing great and who was the tournament winner. Also, Stan winning the tournament means clearly he is the biggest winner. But also, Djokovic losing it means Federer in a way won one thing, showing once again how strong he is mentally, especially in slams. People keep thinking he is not because of many of the losses to Nadal, or his 5th set record etc. But the truth of the matter is, when all the expectations are there and he gets given the opportunity to win RG after Nadal lost to Soderling, he took it. He has a couple of 5 setters, tough matches to go through, but he did it, and furthermore, in the final, he didn't even give his opponent one chance and took it in straight sets... Maybe it is just the RG curse, whoever eliminates Nadal has to lose to a Swiss player in the final, if only... I think it is all in the head and both times, the player who beat Nadal, was just not strong enough mentally to play his best in the final and clinch the title and the Swiss on the other side of the net was...
