Roland Garros 2015 (The Draw)
The main draw should be out of Friday.
Wild cards:
- Quentin HALYS (FRA)
- Maxime HAMOU (FRA)
- Thanasi KOKKINAKIS (AUS)*
- Nicolas MAHUT (FRA)
- Paul-Henri MATHIEU (FRA)
- Lucas POUILLE (FRA)
- Edouard ROGER-VASSELIN (FRA)
- Frances TIAFOE (USA)*
Wild Cards Qualifiers:
- Grégoire BARRERE (FRA)
- Hyeon CHUNG (KOR)
- Enzo COUACAUD (FRA)
- Mitchell KRUEGER (USA)*
- Jules MARIE (FRA)
- Corentin MOUTET (FRA)
- Andrey RUBLEV (RUS) [2014 Roland Garros Junior champion and 2014 Junior World champion]
- Guillaume RUFIN (FRA)
- Johan-Sébastien TATLOT (FRA)
I am surprised Rublev never got the proper Wild Card but one for qualifying only.
He is actually not even in Paris, but playing in Nice.
I saw Chung is playing today.
Does this mean Rublev won't be in RG at all this year?
here we go:

Re: Roland Garros 2015 (The Draw)
RUblev is playing Geneva this week. He got a few WC on clay this year, including Geneva. He is a good prospect but ranked 250 or so. The FO wants to help its own players....as you can see in the above list...and of course they choose an Australian and an American cause they expect those slams to give WCs to their French players.
Yeah business as usual!

Re: Roland Garros 2015 (The Draw)
It's very disappointing...
Junior champion should get an automatic WC.
I wonder if Wimbledon will give him one.
I hope he does well in Geneva, playing Cilic today.
I suppose that Yank Michael Kruger (never heard of him!!!) is going to have the honour of being Nadal's 1st round fodder "opponent"...

Re: Roland Garros 2015 (The Draw)
I think Nadal's draw is much more likely to be tweaked at Wimbledon than in paris. I am not sure the organisers are that bothered about having another Nadal's final. However the organisers are of course heavily influenced by the sponsors.

Yes, unfortunately sponsors seem to be running the show these days.

Re: Roland Garros 2015 (The Draw)
This is so sad for youngsters who don't come from one of the 4 slam nations. They are imediately disadvantaged over their peers who got lucky with their country of origine.
I understand the need to give national WCs to attract the local audience though the French have enough players in the MD anyway. Most of the WC look like walking byes to me. I mean, really, Mahut, who hasn't won a main draw match on clay this year and one match in total (a QR) ? Same for Roger Vasselin. And it's not like these two are promising youngsters.
Regarding Nadal's draw: every draw seems tough for him now. I thought his Rome draw was easy and he lost in an embarrassing way to Wawrinka, a guy he had never lost a set to before 2014. I don't buy into the "it's RG, it will be different for him there"-hype. Last year he wasn't in the greatest of shape either, but still made it to the final in Rome and pushed Djokovic there.

Re: Roland Garros 2015 (The Draw)
Nole is gluten-free, Murray is a sushi fan, Roger probably eats steak for breakfast, lunch and dinner...but Nishi has an acquired taste
"I used to eat McDonald's, I had to eat something so I had no choice. I think it was good that I went to the U.S., because after a couple of years, I got much bigger in height and more weight. The taste wasn't the best, but it was good for me, good for the body. Japanese food is healthy but it doesn't get you much bigger."

what are the seeds?
You need to make a statement about rigged draws, picking which player Nadal will get.

Re: Roland Garros 2015 (The Draw)
I think I did.
No Nole, no Murray in Nadal's half/quarter. No Nishi in his half either.
Nadal in Fed's half and Berd's quarter.
Probably Youzhny and other SBH-ers in the first three rounds for him.
Or light-weight DBH-ers.
Kyrgios is injured, so they may stick him with Nadal just to make it look legit and even if they do, they'll make sure Kyrg has an exhausting opponent in previous round,

I'll look at these draw predictions later this evening (the above one was in a rush, between doing the steak and potatoes dauphinoise, etc.... multitasking efforts on the kitchen ) -when the seeds come out, the mobile RG website version doesn't have it.
Now off to playing, beautiful evening!

I just know I'm going to be bummed when I see the draw tomorrow.
Raonic is out so that can change things.. Stan is now in the 8th seed, Nadal up to 6.

Re: Roland Garros 2015 (The Draw)
There was a bit of talk about who's going to win RG this year in my club this evening...I was surprised some people actually had an opinion!
One guy in particular was hilarious.
He said that "Djokovic sh*ts himself when he sees Nadal across the net there"
I have naturally never thought about it like that, but could he be right?

I would think it is the other way around. The number of slams finals won by Djoko over Nadal is significant...since 2011.

Re: Roland Garros 2015 (The Draw)
I remember S Tignor described one of Nole's losses against Nadal in RG as "lack of belief" and I could never understand it.
But it certainly can't be pleasant and enjoyable to play him...it must feel like torture, I can't even watch it.
Especially that 6 hour AO final....was that tennis?

On paper, hairy draw for Murray:
R1: qualifier
R2: Pospisil (though he/s been injured)
R3: Kyrgios (also injured)
R4: Isner
R5: Ferrer
SF: Nole/Nadal
F: Federer

Re: Roland Garros 2015 (The Draw)
My plan for this FO:
Nole beats Rafa in a grueling 5-setter in QF. He then loses in a grueling 5-setter in the SF to Andy, who then loses in easy straight sets in the final to Fed.

Well..I'll keep hoping....you just never know!
Worst case scenario I'll watch it in the bar eating macaroons and sipping champers
Fed has Stan in the QF and Berd in the semis.
I can't see where Nishi is in the draw, but def not in Nole's half.

Re: Roland Garros 2015 (The Draw)
I don't know...there should be three/4 matches per court.
So 16 (8 men and 8 women) matches to be played in two days.
I don't know if they'd have QF matches played on any other courts except Chatrier and Langlen.

Fed really has a dream draw, the only one lurking early is Monfils, but he has to beat a few good players before reaching Fed.
Nishi's got it tough.

Re: Roland Garros 2015 (The Draw)
QF is only 8 matches - 4 men, 4 ladies.
I checked RG website - they will play them Tue/Wed and each day will have one men's and one ladies' match on each of the two main courts.
So, I say either Rafa/Nole play on Wed, in which case Langlen will have Murray vs Ferrer or Fed plays on Wed in which case Langlen will have Berdych vs Nishi. Or so I guess.

Nishi still has it relatively easy - no Nole, no Rafa, no Andy.
Those three have probably been the best three clay courters this season. Top half is brutal. Bottom half serene and cozy. And I like it that way.
