And typical of those pushers, once they try to hit an aggressive shot under pressure, they mess it up.
One set all! Allez Young!

Reminds me a lot Murray when Murray was young....But Tomic has not the same mouvement, so stands usually much closer than Murray and has a much better FH.noleisthebest wrote:Yes, Tomic is a poor man's Monf.

....and serve.
Did you see this Austrian Ferrer is playing, that's the one I thought was doped to his eyeballs.
Came out of nowhere, big, pumped frame, going for shots...and with the entire arm covered in tattooes....at least Raonic can take bis sleeve offÂ

Yes...he was totally spent, I think he had two weeks of non stop playing, and it's brutally hot and humid during day sessions in Brazil atm.

Fognini can be so lazy on his feet...
Nadal's balding patch worse than ever!
Does it mean he's cycling up or down?

Not sure if that was a mis-hit, but stunning angle from Fognini on the penultimate point of the set on his backhand.

Also I was thinking before the match, and I think to some extent I've been proven right here, that Fognini is one of the worst professionals on tour- in terms of attitude.Â
He can actually hit very well of both wings, when at his best he can construct the point very well.

I found it strange Nadal challenged that call...it was clear the ball slid off the line on the close up.Kim Jong-Un wrote:Not sure if that was a mis-hit, but stunning angle from Fognini on the penultimate point of the set on his backhand.

He just called the umpire to double check, he didn't challenge the umpire after he came down.noleisthebest wrote:I found it strange Nadal challenged that call...it was clear the ball slid off the line on the close up.Kim Jong-Un wrote:Not sure if that was a mis-hit, but stunning angle from Fognini on the penultimate point of the set on his backhand.

I can type on OTF and listen to the audio of the live stream without issue.
Combination of sound of the racket, Nadal's level of grunting, crowd reaction means I know what is happening throughout the rally more or less.

There was no need to double check anything, there was a skidding clay mark on pthe line.
Even at 5:0 up, Nadal feels the need to intimidate the umpire.

Oh come on, he was hardly intimidating the umpire, he asked him to double check and then immediately wiped the mark and accepted it after the umpire made his decision.noleisthebest wrote:Kim Jong-Un wrote:He just called the umpire to double check, he didn't challenge the umpire after he came down.noleisthebest wrote:I found it strange Nadal challenged that call...it was clear the ball slid off the line on the close up.Kim Jong-Un wrote:Not sure if that was a mis-hit, but stunning angle from Fognini on the penultimate point of the set on his backhand.

Fognini has a better FH than Nadal,
Nadal's BH is a joke compared to Fognini's.

I reckon Fabio's tanked the first set to save his legs for the last two sets...very smart!

He just has a really poor attitude in general. When he's on it, he's very very hard to beat. When not, he normally doesn't bother trying. He swings from one mode to another intermittently during matches.

I know it's not fair on the crowd, but it's cool he can afford to do it. He is the man of inspiration, and it's nice to have someone like that on the tour...with a bit of soul, not totally hardened and obsessed by success.
Plus he's got a very fiery temper, and that's tough to control sometimes.

What difference ball-striking makes...Fognini's makes the play look fast, Nadal's moon-ball - slow.

Fognini is a real cracker, I love watching him...def one of the most colourful characters ever!
He gives the full performance: gorgeous tennis, funny faces, little monogues...and that's when he is in good mood...the bad Fogna is even funnier, someone once called him "an evil clown"

Really poor performance from Rafa, the tournament isn't exactly important, but he has to look to build up his form.
Buenos Aires next week.
