Re: The Fedipal Complex
The public in Federer's Kingdom looks up to him as the Monarch of all that he has surveyed so far. The subjects are subservient to the King and have owed him their allegiance since he ascended the throne. The Top 4 could be considered Royal Princes, but as long as the King lives, the Royal Throne is a place too far to reach.
Federer's eventual retirement may lead to the metaphorical bloodshed between the Princes for the right to be called the new King, but it has to be on the terms of the King.
Whether this is the Fedipal Syndrome, or some other esoteric malady or royal affliction, there is no known cure for it, no matter how hard Dr McEnroe, Dr Fuentes or Dr Igor claim, that they have a miracle from Zeus himself.
Long Live the King! May his loyal subjects revel in the halcyon glory of the Mighty Federer.
Does that mean the Princes are any less Royal? Absolutely not. They have their Stewardship to tend to? A friendly joust and a mirthful loss is not enough for the Princes to claim the Royal Throne.
(I must sound like the Fedworshipper that I get accused of. ) All hail the Royal Princes!
