Murray is back on court!
Here it is from the BBC.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/25016654
Just in the picture he looks so bulky...especially considering he is 6'3"!
He doesn't know yet whether he'll be playing the AO or not. I am pretty sure he will but most likely will lose in the first 3 rounds. He is the kind of player who also need to be extremely fit to have a chance. However he doesn't mind losing as much as some others.

Yes, his legs look bigger than before.
If he is going to play at an exo at the end of the month, I don't see why he wouldn't play AO.
The scary thing, I can't even remember whether he played at this USO

Re: Murray is back on court!
I would be surprised if he decides to play the AO open. I remember Truffin saying that the operation for what it was may not have been as bad as percieved by the press. He has said he only enters a tournament if he feels he can win it and I think with Brisbane and the Hopman Cup might not be enough practice he needs to play well in a BO5 format.
I agree with you Tenez when you say he'd be likely for an early exit. It will be interesting to see if he plays DC, given the backing he has given to the cause.

Well, all will depend on the level of fitness he achieves, it's not like that his game depends on shot-making or risk taking.

Be interesting to see his BH because post Wimbledon it was plain awful along with his serve (which is mostly awful at the best of times)

Re: Murray is back on court!
I'll never know how he won this Wimbledon.
He played such awful tennis and should have lost to Verdasco, JJ...
Didn't watch the final bar the two opening games, I knew the match was his just from the way Nole played those two games.
That RG loss really shook him.

Re: Murray is back on court!
I would go as far as to say that Murray had luck with the draw to be honest. He faced two guys that succumbed to the pressure of being in a winning position that coupled with Murray's fitness to hang on in as his level didn't drop any further and if anything gained improvement over the duration enabled Murray to turn those matches around.
I can only think Djokovic had a brain fart on the day of the final as his tactics were just bizarre. Almost like had forgot how to play tennis.
Good for me to see Murray winning it and good for the country as a whole, though I am not so sure tennis fans in general would agree that tennis won on the day.

Re: Murray is back on court!
But even if he plays AO, it's hard to see him as a threat.
The one time I actually really enjoyed watching him was when he was demolishing Nadal in 2010 AO to the extent Nasal couldn't take it and had to retire.

Re: Murray is back on court!
For me, it's not difficult to imagine Nole had to lose that match.
I am just wondering how long he is going to be able to bottle it within him before it all comes out with a bang.
A lot is happening behind the scenes these days.

Re: Murray is back on court!
It depends how the court plays during the heat of the day as they tend to close the roofs. Murray is comfortable on those courts hence the 3 finals he has made there. Aside from Djokovic he would be the only threat to Nadal if he is fully fit by that time.

Re: Murray is back on court!
Well Nole has ended the season with bang. What is he now in singles including DC 24 without loss? That is some form to put together. For me next year Nole's season all comes down to RG. If he can win there, I could see him go on a tear and reach double figures with Slams. The confidence of winning that event I would put with his DC success in 2010 in terms of size of catalyst

Re: Murray is back on court!
After all that's happened in 2013, anything is possible. Unfortunately not in the right direction.
All we need is just the conditions to be a tiny bit faster. Everything would change for better.

Re: Murray is back on court!
I think for tennis fans 2014 might have more pain because I do see Nadal winning at the AO and RG because he is the form man in that format.
2014 needs a Soderling-esq story to materialise.

Re: Murray is back on court!
If the conditions get sped up, Nadal's form goes out of the window, Ferrer is out of top 10 and Fed is winning again.
Gulbis, Raonic, JJ, Paire and most others will benefit, we'll see new people win titles and a lot less time spent in monotonous rallying.

It's a big IF. We can only live in hope that someone does something to vary the conditions. I would certainly watch more if they did.

Re: Murray is back on court!
Unfortunately it is.
Just look at what Larry Ellison did to courts in IW jus to have Nadal turn up there.
That speaks volumes.
TDs couldn't care less what a bunch of tennis romantics think and want to see.

Re: Murray is back on court!
I want to see Wimbledon play like a true grass court and also the emergence on a Masters 1000 on grass. It such a shame that a spectacle like grass tennis is so short
I felt for Del Potro at IW. That would've been such a historic event to beat the big 3 to a Masters title. How different 2013 could've been on that one result.

Re: Murray is back on court!
There are still extremely weird patches going on with Djoko in those slam matches. The second (and third set?) of that FO!!! What was that???? Then yes that Wimbledon final, terrible. His match v Hewitt and ferrer at the AO last year or 2 years ago. His final v Nadal who he won in 5 though he shoudl have won in 4 convincingly. But if you look at it, even that WTF final. Should have won 61 61 though I can understand he was tired that day. Yet many weird patches oin may matches.legendkillar wrote:I would go as far as to say that Murray had luck with the draw to be honest. Re: Murray is back on court!
I think Nole became accustomed to getting into long and passive rallies and not playing his natural game which was to put the hammer down once a set up. That is Djokovic I am used to seeing. Against Murray and Nadal I expected him to make a move in those matches and they never came. It's like he stopped being proactive and looked out of rythtym.

Nole is quite emotional and the death of his first childhood coach whom he called second mother in the middle of RG affected him hugely.

Re: Murray is back on court!
He might be emotional but I don't think that was the reason at all. He had lapses like that many times as documented above and I don't think he lost as many dear relatives as he had lapses.noleisthebest wrote:Nole is quite emotional and the death of his first childhood coach whom he called second mother in the  middle of RG affected him hugely.
I really think he had an injury worry in that FO final. Something that prevented him to move for a while. That's why I felt it was more a worry than probably a realy injury but certainly he simply stopped playing.

Re: Murray is back on court!
Unlike Nadal, Murray had a real injury, so I'd expect him to show rustiness and problems for quite a while. People are likely expecting him to do "Miracles" like Nadal did, but it's not going to happen. He should be fit for the best part of his season though.

Yeah it's a pity he had a huge injury in this FO final, if not for that he would have easily won FO like he has done for so many years in the past.Tenez wrote:

Re: Murray is back on court!
Yes, he did injure his ankle playing against US in Davis Cup, so was doubtful for Monte Carlo and I think he aggravated it there further by choosing to play (but wasn't it worth it )Tenez wrote:

I know he went to Prague to see a specialist before RG, so he could indeed have been carrying that ankle problem.
He usually moves very well on clay, and when I saw him live in that match against Goffin, he was not very convincing, did not look his usual, smooth self, was a bit like in Madrid when it had blue clay, as if he was on ice.
There was a reason why he was so desperate for the court to be watered down in that last set, but we know what happened....

The court is watered down every set as normal, stop complaining about that and admit Djokovic lost the FO final.

Normally the court is watered down at the end of every set, rarely they break that- and this was the case here.

My point is that they didn't break that- ie they did what they normally do (water it down after every set).

You do know that 5th set at RG does not end in a TB, don't you?Julia Santamaria wrote:I don't understand?Tenez wrote:Yes but no coincidence once again!Julia Santamaria wrote:Normally the court is watered down at the end of every set, rarely they break that- and this was the case here.

So when it was 6:6 , surely, the courts needed watering.
And why do you think Nadal refused it?
I can bet amy life on that Nole would have not refused had Nadal asked for the same.

They do it once every set.
To break that, I presume both the umpires and players all need to unanimously agree.
And in this case they didn't so it wasn't watered.

You don't need to presume anything, just accept plain logic. And read that link again. It's easy to see if you want to.Julia Santamaria wrote:They do it once every set.

Normally they water the court down once every set.
They could have done it inbetween sets if everyone agreed. But not everyone agreed.
Just accept Nadal won the match NITB, instead of ridiculous excuses.
