Good sunshine today at wimbledon. 2   already in losses of Gulbis and Paire.

This wimbledon has been a disaster for me. After a very long time, I'm not feeling good about the first weekend amidst a Slam week.

Interesting comment from McEnroe about Gasquet (talking about the lack of French GS winners):
He was born to be a tennis player, but not born to be an athlete. Sad, isn't it.

Sa only one point from Berdych-Anderson, horrible tennis. Base-line bashing, long rally and all down the middle. Anderson was 5:2 up.
Tomic Gasquet looks a bit more interesting.

Who is De Schepper?
I heard of him but never saw him play....whoever he is, well done for reaching 2nd week at Wimbledon almost anonymosly

Berdych Anderson still slogging it out in the business end of the 4th set, Haas Lopez started, Lopez up a break.
Del Potro Zemlja also having a close one.

I watched a bit of Tomic Gasauet, until I dropped off in the garden, only to be woken up by the TB noise, close win from Tomic.

A difficult player on grass, seemed to be focused this time and was able to win crucial points.

His game is still the same, an interesting variation of slow counter-punching and powerful winners. A much freer, more natural version of Murray.

Still don't like him for some reason. Doesn't seem to be a gent at heart.

In the meantime, Berdych breaks Anderson and wins in 4 sets. Lopez serving for the set.
Delpo-Zemlja going into 2nd set TB, time to tune in  

I have just checked out De Schepper - he is 2.03m tall !!!!!
I don't think I need to know anything else....

Delpo wins the TB and is 2 sets up against Zemlja.
Dolgo Ferrer starting, this could be good, come on Dolgo!!!!!

Dolgo's erve is simply electric!

I feel sorry for Ferrer a bit as he played a tough 4 set match yesterday and has to play again today. I can imagine what fuss Nadal would have kicked up if that happened to him.

That aside, I cannot believe what glorious day it is today at Wimbledon compared with yesterday

  But again down a break early in 2nd. His game is just not solid enough. Maybe that's what is so special about him. I just simply love his play, its the most entertaining tennis left in wimbledon for me. I hope it can stay longer.

Haas 2-1 sets up. I hope the he goes into the 2nd week. He can give some glimpses of Fed's brand of tennis.

Funny, but I'd never compare Haas with Fed, despite the SBH etc.

It actually doesn't do anyone any favour to be compared to him.

I know you are allowed to hit the volleyball over the net with your head (not that I ever had to do it!).

Having seen him live at Boodles, I now never expect him to win a match.
He plays tennis just for the love of it and doesn't seem to give a heck about anything else, he is totally amazing!

His serve is a work of art and so is his ball-striking, it is just so good to watch him, but he hits too many slices and that is the undoing of his game.
Still, he must have some super time when playing. I cheered for him big time against Cilic. And yes, he did lose that match although he is so much better than Cilic who looked unbelievably bland and boring compared to Dolgo.

Stuff it, I'm watching Dolgo-Ferrer, and just at the right time 2nd set TB

Chardy started well, but Nole pinned him back to baseline and that's the end of story for Chardy.

Didn't know Chardy was Wimbledon and USO junior champion.

Chardy does not play badly, but he just does not get sniff when Nole serves

Nole at the beginning of the third set without an unforced error, is that normal? 

and just two lost points on his serve, that is unbelievable

I like Chardy's game, but Nole's groundstrokes are so controlled and pacy, he can't deal with them, esp after the 1st serve. He's lost his confidence now, as well.
But he deals with Murray easily.

It is still difficult to speak about favorites, it is the grass and the edge is very thin. The early losses of Fed and Nadal gave other players a lot of inspiration and energy to go for it. I think about another surprise, e.g. Tomic could be that.

Ferrer looks spent, Dolgo must capitalise on it, come on Dolgo, you can do it!!!!!!  

Get that BH in once Dolgo, PLEEEEEEEEEASEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
