Bizarre that having Fed and Nole on his side, Ljubo wasn't elected.

it is bizarre but not surprising. It all fits into place: draw rigging and all. Nadal does not feel "invincible" with the officials umpires etc for no reason....

Just listened to a podcast on tennis.com, where they talked about the Olympics and looked back on Wimbledon.
Bodo (your fave) apparently heard from his Spanish inside contacts, that Nadal's tendonitis has progressed to the next level (I forgot what the name for it is).
Can it be that he really has the knee problem?

Who knows? I just find it extremely bizarre that he wins the FO and everything on clay running like crazy but 2 matches and 2 weeks of rest later his knee flares up again.

What Bodo meant is that Nadal needs to get to get to the next PED level!

From what I know and have experienced, knee is a dodgy thing to have as a problem, and you certainly can't even run if you have the slightest problem, let alone play tennis with all that stopping and starting.

That's why I think something does not add up in his story.

I talked to a friend last night and she was daring me to do something crazy like run out on the court and say something political!!!

Guys Big Grin
I noticed on TV that there are often more than a few and sometimes many empty seats in the W matches. I wish they didn't make it so hard to get tickets. Is there a way around the queuing system to purchase W tickets without paying a fortune or getting them a year in advance?

the empty seats are of people who go in and out to see other matches, mostly. You can't get a ticket a year in advance even if you wanted it.
You can:
1) enter the ballot (look at Wimb. website for more details. I did it last year and didn't get anything, but will try this year again)
2) join a tennis club and they get their own tickets allocated so give the out to interested members (joining my club in Sept, so will try there as well)
3) buy a debenture ticket (great seats) for a couple a hundred of pounds depending on the day, usually sold in pairs so you can share them with a special friend Winking These you can buy a few months or days in advance. I got mine from Ebay this year.
4) buy a debenture set for either CC (about 27K or C1 about 11K, could be wrong) and watch all matches for 4 years.
5) queue and hope for the best smiley

6) I have an extra option this year, though, if I run out on CC during the Olympic final and say what a cheat Nadal is , then Tenez will share ALL his tickets with me 8) (provided they don't arrest me and dump me into prison)

"Estonian tennis player Kaia Kanepi has pulled out of the Olympics because she has not recovered from a heel injury.Kanepi
says she is "very sad" about the withdrawal from the London Games.
She's not sure whether she'll "ever get another chance to attend the
Olympics."
The 27-year-old player posted the comments on her website Wednesday.
Kanepi
is ranked No. 16. She reached the quarterfinals at the French Open in
May but was forced to miss Wimbledon because of the injury."

Equal pay, anyone? Winking

Janko Tipsarevic tells the publication Berner Zeitung that female tennis players should not be paid the same as men, and also takes a swipe at the quality of women's play.

"Men's tennis is currently in the top four in terms of quality and
popularity, it’s at its peak, just like golf when Tiger Woods dominated.
In the women's tennis it’s very different," he said. "I do not
underestimate the achievements of Victoria Azarenka and the others, but their best time is over. That was when the Williams sisters, Kim Clijsters, Justine Henin and Amelie Mauresmo
were at the top. I don't even want to talk about (the fact) that a good
junior could beat Serena 6-1, 6-2. But I think it's simply ridiculous
that women earn on the same at the Grand Slam events."

He did, and all hell broke loose!
Interesting that Tipsarevic is following it up in even more bluntly.
he is just stating the obvious, although I find all that pay talk vulgar. It's none of our business.
Just another "equality" gimmick for the masses...

Yes it's one of those luxury we could afford back in the wealthy times but when the money gets tighter, it might need reconsidering.

From tennis.com:

Agassi, anointed by McEnroe as the game's best returner following his 1992 Wimbledon semifinal destruction of the New Yorker, said Novak Djokovic's elastic ability to both attack and defend off the return makes the second-ranked Serbian the best returner tennis has seen.

"When Lleyton Hewitt
came along I remember thinking, 'How does Hewitt's return game
compare?' Because Hewitt has so much lateral coverage and he puts so
many balls back in play," Agassi said. "The same with Federer—he gets so
many balls back in play. Well, if you can take the best of me, the best
of Hewitt, and the best of Federer and then you stick it in one guy,
that's Djokovic. Because the truth is Djokovic can stay right up on the
baseline and hurt you with the return if he chooses to, or he can stand
back and defend if he needs to.

"See, Hewitt really didn't have the ability to hurt you off the first
serve. He could hurt you occasionally off the second serve. I had the
ability to always hurt you, but I got aced a lot because I took educated
chances. Djokovic has the ability to do both and his pocket is bigger
than mine and the ball above his shoulder—he handles that better than I
did."

Fantastic news!!!!

"LONDON (AP)—Wimbledon organizers say the Grand Slam tournament will be pushed back one week in 2015 to lengthen the grass-court season. The
All England Club said in a statement Thursday that the change will
``benefit the sport as a whole by creating a three-week gap between the French Open and Wimbledon,'' giving players more time to play on grass and recover from Roland Garros.
In 2015, the tournament will run from June 29 to July 12.
All
England Club chairman Philip Brook says ``all our research indicates
that there is widespread support within the game for extending the gap
between the French Open and Wimbledon
and, importantly, we think most players will welcome the prospect of a
longer grass court season and spending more time on the softer surface
of grass.''

Latest on Nadal:

"I was like scared to take the decision no? It is something that happens,” he
said. "You never know if it happens only one time in life bringing the
flag of my country to the Olympics with all the sports family of Spain
there. All I can say is that I did as much as I could to be there and to
be ready but it wasn't the right time. My emotion and my dream to
compete in the Olympics was more than ever…When I had to take the
decision was the toughest moment. But it was something that I was
thinking was going to happen for the last six, seven days because the
knee was not improving."
Nadal would not commit to a return date. The next event he is entered in is the Toronto Masters, which begin on August 6.
"The tournaments never stop so I will try to be ready for the American season
but you never know you have to work hard every day and see, go day by
day and see how it improves," he said. "I will compete when my knee says
I am ready to compete. I don't want to go on court with bad feeling
because then it is terrible."

When is he REALLY going to come back?

I think he will be back around Cinci. He will surely play a masters before USO. I dont think he will have any chance at USO. Murray looks certain to be number three around USO.
