Re: Aus open prediction game: Day 8
Before I could make my predictions.. I see the scoreline and Zverev is out with a whimper.
His good records are indication of how non-tennis aspects affect the results and rankings. Currently, BO5 is too difficult for him and I'm certain he wouldn't have won any of those masters or WTF if they weren't bo3 in finals.

I love the way Nishi is taking the ball early and accelerating the tempo. I hope he can sustain that level for another 3 matches.

Zverev smashes racket 9 times and scares the ball girls, moron, still a GS choker.

Coric has a such an ugly serve. It looks like he is having his first serving lesson.
His game is so manufactured.

I really like Pouille's ground shots. they have weight. TYpical of those with heavy feet a la Nalby, Davenport, Mecir. They have to go for more.

Coric-Pouille looks like a challenger level match compared to Tsits-Fed yesterday.

Busta is a set and Break up. Does poor Nishi have to fight another 5 setter?

True, but I give him credit for not being scared to hit hard and not lockup in silly defence and wait for UEs.
In 2y sure he can do some damage with these younger/ish guys.

So Med got the break back in the first. Got 40-15 up on his serve at 4-5 and fluffed it.
The rest of the tour needs to hope Fed, Nadal and Djokovic go soon as to give them a chance against each other.

Medved is good, but 1D.
Not sure if he is taller that Tsits, but Tsits is a much better mover which enables him to play all court tennis naturally.
At the moment, Medved looking to be a Berd/Cilic hybrid.

Ninja seems to take the match now 4:2 5th
Why does he need 5 sets to beat types of Busta is beyond me, he will never win a GS as he is always too tired for the Final.

Re: Aus open prediction game: Day 8
Of course, the guy tucked up in bed contemplating his extra day of rest and enjoying all of the blood-letting throughout the men's draw in tight 4 and 5 set matches will be Nadal.
Watching slams as Fed fades into (tennis) old age I find that my favourite player is almost not so much Fed the man, as Fed's slam record. Each time I think he may have put himself out of reach Nadal emerges blinking from the coffin, and once again the last hope looks like Djoko in a Final. Let's hope that one (or both) of the two 'T's' steps up.

Djokovic is far more likely to overtake Fed's slam count than injury prone Nadal. Be careful what you wish for

You may be right, but I don't think it's very likely. It's a tall order for both of them - another seven slams for a guy who is 31 vs. another 4 for a guy who is only a year older than him; but my point is that a win here for Nadal given his prowess on clay makes a very big difference to his race.

We need Nole for now. But if he wins the AO then rooting for him at RG will mean rooting for another non-calendar year slam for him. Pick your poison I guess.

Re: Aus open prediction game: Day 8
Djokovic doesn't have a prayer of equalling Fed's slam titles., He'd have to break every age related record there is. It's not even close to feasible. Honestly, it's like some of you haven't ever looked at yesterday, let alone the history of this sport. What Fed's done in his mid 30s is because he's the greatest and also has an attacking playing style. It's not the norm. And Djok would have to do even better.
If anyone wants to bet me 1000 and stop spraying shit out of their mouth, be my guest.

If not this year, next year at least 5 big hitters will blow Djoko off court Kachanov style. Playing pinpong from baseline and waiting for UEs is not easy at 33-34 till Djoko does 20GS, his body can't sustain that, even Nadals cyborg knees have given up 8 months a year while being a part time player last 5 years.

I am intrigued if Nadal meets Tsitipas. Granted he looked knackered at the end of the match with Fed, but I wonder if Nadal could be a good match up given Tsitipas attacks higher bouncing balls. Conditioning might be an issue given he's dropped a few sets during his run.
One can only hope Tiafoe runs him ragged, even in defeat!

Tsitsipas lost fairly convincingly to Nadal twice last year.
But he has improved since then.
Still back Rafa in 3 or 4 tops/

dont think tsitsipas will pass through bautista
and I have yet to see how nadal does against tiafoe
in the other half, djokovic is already in the final... and clear favourite for it all

Superb play by Collins, 25y old, first ever GS and into SF and earns in this match equal money she has earned all her playing career
Come on Bartyyyyyy, she looks like a shemale for ffs, I bet she is a fire in bed, cause ugly girls compensate in bed for their lack of beauty, but Kvitova has no erotic elements whatsoever into her.

Im fine if both on 19GS and both suffer mild cardiac arrests for being second best in the lifetime of tennis history and their fans can fight forever who is the real second one.

Re: Aus open prediction game: Day 8
@jahu - just checked on the Aus Open website, and Collins is playing in her 6th slam - she has played in 3 USO's, and one each RG and Wimbledon last year.
@slam count - I really can't see Djoko winning another 7 from 31 years old, but I can see him picking up about 4.
Nadal is like an unpredictable rocket these days - he absolutely cannot keep slam winning standard up over a season, but if he times it right to burn fuel at an absolutely crazy rate he can over a fortnight. As each year starts he is the man to beat at RG, and the USO conditions suit him too; last year he was arguably the second-best player at Wimbledon. If he only wins one slam this year then I really think it's past him. However, it's very feasible that he scraps his way to two, and then I think that the mathematical reality of 'one more heave' would be very sustaining for him.
