Watched Fed from midway through the second set. At first he looked similar to yesterday - ok but with a few too many errors. But he soon really upped his game. If he can play like he played towards the end, then good things may happen.

Good luck Alex!
Alex is the first potentially serious opponent Rafa is facing. He is a retriever but can be quite dangerous when playing well. The match should give us some idea how Rafa's form is.

Problem is retriever v Nadal have to cover a lot of ground. Even retrievers have to turn into attacking players like Djoko and Murray to have a chance.

Berdych is flying in this tournament! Looks to be moving better for sure.

De Minaur and Nadal. 3 games. 23 minutes!! At this rate they won't finish before the final is played!

Re: Aus open prediction game: Day 5
Fed manages to win in 3 sets, including a 7-5, over 1hr 28mins; Nadal takes 1hr 28mins to be 6-1 6-2 up.
Yawn.
Yawn.

That match was hard watching for sure. De Minaur has such small power in his shots. Guy didn't really stand a chance.

It's a substantial improvement on the Mugurza/Konta match last night, but starting at 10pm for Kerber is still pretty tough. Are there any other tournaments that do this?

Was going to throw the USO out there, but they don't start late like the AO.

No weapons of any kind to hurt Nadal. Nadal eats such players for breakfast. Deminaur may have improved some rankings, but I don't see him ever becoming a serious contender. With some help with draws opening up, a Slam 4Th rnd or QF is all should get to at best.Tenez wrote:summerblues wrote:Good luck Alex!

Re: Aus open prediction game: Day 5
Verdasco sucks but Berdy is flying under the radar playing some superb tennis this AO, danger!!
Dimi doing well too.
Agut on some spanish sawdust it seems last few months, beat Kachanov pretty good.
Tiafoe again in 5 sets win against Seppi so not an easy match, maybe 2019 he can do some damage.
I thought Fritz would be a little more attacking, seemed an easy match for Fed, and Kyrgios commenting on TV: "The way Federer is moving is scary, this is ridiculous tennis"
Go SHAPOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Impressed by this clip. This looks like Fed 2017....though Fritz must have made him look good as he is the typical 1990s player. Nothing to hurt Fed really.

Frtiz and those giant headphones, wtf, so disrespectful to the crowd, where are you at a night club? Azarenka and Serena used to do same.
Yes Fritz made Fed look flying today, yet to see Fed on a tight situation or a BP at this AO, then we can form some opinion on the form.

Did not see Rafa but the score looks ominous.
I do not see Fed winning the title if he has to go through Tsitsipas, Cilic, Rafa and Nole.
I was hoping Verdasco could seal the deal, and potentially give Fed an easier QF. And I am not even sure Fed will get there. He has looked good in patches from what I have seen so far.

With respects to Nadal and Verdasco, you were spared some pain.
De Minaur was toothless. Every service game he had was a struggle. The slowest death I've seen on a court in a while.
Verdasco what a bottlejob. Played a tentative TB. Got a mini-break from a tight Cillic and that DF on MP lost him the match.
Hoping Shapo lights up the tournament

Nadal has had a super easy draw. De Minotaur is his old customer.summerblues wrote:Did not see Rafa but the score looks ominous.

Aussie B-line players are the new Spaniards for Nadal.
Shame they didn't draw him with Tomic or Kyrgios.
At one stage before Oz I thought Nadal was playing hard to get with withdrawals from warm-up tournaments, just to gain draw bargaining position with AO TD.
But who cares...he may sell tickets but he won't lift the trophy next Sunday.

I dunno. I have to say part of me was happy that Nole demolished Shapo.noleisthebest wrote:he may sell tickets but he won't lift the trophy next Sunday.
