He has not been well for a while. Had he been ok, he would have played the French, played Canada instead of Cincy to allow more rest before the USO. But he did not play Canada cause clearly there is something wrong with his body. Whether it is the back or gets too stiff after a couple of matches (age) impossible to say...but it is weird to see how bad his body got since Miami 2017:

There is NO WAY he'd have played the French. He is done with clay.
