Me, I see no obstacle until (maybe) Mischa Zverev. He's certainly got more chance than his brother.

Looks like I haven't missed much...
Did anyone see the match?
Was Nadal good or Sela bad?

Shappo needs to find his returning position on grass. It's too random atm.

Nole's match was dead boring...
He won easily and looked extra hungry. Unneccessariy hysterical and tense imo. Maybe that's how he keeps himself focused these days, what can you do....
Returning instinct coming back.
I'd say he still hasn't made up for the lost step from his glory days...whatever that means atm!

And Shapo bags the third set!
1/10 BP conversion... who cares!
Beautiful talent.
What are the chances of Fed coaching him one day?

Maybe if one of his kids decides to go the tennis way, early coaching, but I guess later give it to a pro coach.
I think he would be a bad coach, as he knows too much and would expect and overload the player

And he did it in the last game...just in time to break Chardy and win the match!
Great win and first time in R2.
Chardy's solid and decent grass game was simply too 1d for Shapo's exuberant talent.

Yeah...and 'To play these kind of matches you need time between points because you cannot play points in a row with long rallies, with emotional points, having only 25 seconds between points. (Nadal)' Says it all. In fact he should have said "you can't play those long rallies without having extra red cells", especially when using as much energy on each shot.
Taking extra time has the same effect as taking epo. It is as simple as that. And in Nadal's case, no doubt he is doing both. If he cheats in front of us, imagine what he does behind closed doors.

Re: Day 2- Wimbledon prediction game!
actually he is being very honest
he takes as long as umpires allow him to, he says he doesnt want clock, because in his opinion it will be worse for the game
obviously he is being coherent there, and I agree, clock wont do good to the game

Can we expect anything else from a fan(atic)? Fans do put the player beyond the game.naxroy wrote:actually he is being very honest

Re: Day 2- Wimbledon prediction game!
lets review,
1- nadal takes more than 25 secs in most of the points
2- Umpires alow him to
3- nadal is contrary to clock implementation, and he explains why, explanation is perfectly coherent with fact number 1 and 2
4- nadal doesnt hide secret reason, he is very transparent about his preference, and expresses it, which he is allowed to do (I hope)
5- I say I agree with nadal´s point of view (why he doesnt want clock, and that clock wont do good to the game)
6- I am called a fanatic (again)
questión: is having a diferent view of the game than that of OTF, being a fanatic?

To quote GP, cut the crap out naxroy and just admit Nadal is a cheat.
You are getting tedious with your “defence”.

Re: Day 2- Wimbledon prediction game!
Haven't they trialled the shot clock before? If not, I'd like to see it trailled first and gauge player feedback.
I don't agree with Nadal's reasoning for it not being implemented. Short games equate to no thinking?? Not sure there is much substance to that at all.
Lets see what other players thoughts are on this.

Who cares what any player thinks!
Rules are there to secure the integrity of the game and that’s it. If players don’t like them, they don’t have to be pros...they can go an pack shelves at ASDA.
I am sick and tired of excuses.
No player is bigger than the sport.

Interesting, I also think feedback from players will be nice to see
if they all want the clock, it will be implemented for good, and those wanting more time will have to adapt their game.

My view is he isn't the only time violator out there and logic would tell me they're reactions would be similar.
What I want to know is will the shot clock then automatically impose a second serve?

Are you scared to say Nadal is a cheat so you have to bundle him up with "others".
Is it safer to be in the crowd?
Of course they would be.legendkillar wrote:logic would tell me they're reactions would be similar.
Let us never forget who started the trend, who raised the bar with steroid muscles and physical tennis, who removes umpires from his list, who has draws rigged for him.

The thing which infuriates me we even have to be talking about shot clock at all!
Why can't Nadal just play within the rules like Federer?
Why are the umpires scared to warn him?
It all sucks no end!
And rest assured, while that cheat is holding the racquet he will not be penaised either by umpires or shotclocks.
I just hope one day all his filthy laundry comes out in the wash like with Lance Armstrong.

1) Has everything to do with it. Because should Djokovic, Cilic also get done, no doubt there will be leniency on here on the lines of "It's a political decision" or "it's unfair on talented players" some form of nonsensical bullshit. I couldn't care if it's Nadal in the firing line or others. I am stating the bloody obvious that if the game is getting tough on it, get tough on everyone that violates it. Not just one because it pisses you off.
2) Well yeah. Let's see if others during this tournament are questioned on it and how they feel about it. You might find those who don't violate it might oppose. Who knows. However, lets open the floor up.
3) Why does everything have to compared with Federer? Is he the only player on tour who plays within the rules? Yes I agree why are we talking about a shot clock and why can't umpires be stronger. There are so many options available before even considering a shot clock. There is the same belief like with other sports that technology will improve and help officials impose the rules. Whilst there is a small amount of merit in that, the officials have to embrace it and not feel influenced not to impose the rules.

It’s been used in qualies at the slams for the last year or so (not sure if in every slam but certainly the hard court ones). Haven’t seen any feedback on it though.legendkillar wrote:Haven't they trialled the shot clock before? If not, I'd like to see it trailled first and gauge player feedback.

I could've mentioned Dan Evans, Feli Lopez, Dusan Lajovic, Denis Kudla, Lucas Pouille, Ivo Karlovic...

Re: Day 2- Wimbledon prediction game!
Or Berdych, Tsonga, Isner. List could nearly be endless see
The point is on the issue of time violation, it is a wider issue. Del Potro is another who takes an age. Plus you have those receiving that could cause a time violation for the server.
I have no doubt for the argument made by the big offenders will be "it will disrupt flow of the match" Which I would simply say tough luck! Get on with it and don't go over 25.
Don't think the umpires will do anything though, so not holding my breath.
