Maybe, depends on your opinion of what makes a snob. If you heard my accent and knew my background I think you'd probably think again, but as it happens if I'm going to Wimbledon I want to see Fed before he retires so putting up for Centre tickets for day 1 felt worth it.noleisthebest wrote:bogbrush wrote:Funnily enough, as I have tickets for Wimbledon Day 1 to see Federer, I realised the other day I might actually be watching him play Djokovic or Murray. It is still 32 seeds this year so probably not Djokovic but it could be Murray.
Tou sound like one of those snob fans who is only interested in watching names!

I hope you have a fantastic day and that Fed plays like a dream.
Well done for getting the tickets.
p.s.
My comment was more for Murray/Djokovic...I once saw Nole as a def. champion in CC vs Ferrero on an opening day...waste of time.
Very few players are really worth spending money on on grass, unfortunately.
The only one apart from Fed that could play on it that I saw was Haas (lost to Nole). Cilic and Dimi ain’t bad either.
Of coirse Dustin Brown is da king!
Oh....I really hope I get drawn in the baaallooooot........

I correct myself, forgot about Nishi.noleisthebest wrote:I only watched the TB from 4:2 for Dimitrov.
Dull tennis from Dimi, Goffin should have played like he does in Davis Cup.
That last long point summed it up.
Shame Goff managed to lose, he was the last decent player in the draw.
Glad he beat Cilic!

Finally, the real tennis season is here. Love Monte Carlo - early spring, beautiful setting, no night matches, tennis season springing into the bloom with everything still to play for - RG, Wimbledon, USO all within a few month span.

Djoko can comfortably play the whole package - MC + Barcelona + Madrid + Rome + RG. In his current form, that should be no more than 6-7 matches total. Rafa will play more tennis at RG alone.Jahu wrote:Djoko to play Barcelona.

I think he’ll play a better match than a 1d Thiem. He has more heart, though even that is not a constant...which is strange.Tenez wrote:He certainly can choke!
You only need one “big 3” player to expose how weak the rest are.

Rafa is almost in the stands when returning. Camera does not pick him up when he is receiving on the near side of the court.
They showed a stat saying that last year he was returning 2nd serves 2m behind the baseline, and this year it is 4m.

Yeah, Dimi is playing quite well. But it is depressing that even though he is playing well, and Rafa is not at his best, Dimi is just hanging on.

Smart play from Dimi, not going for broke.
Though he sometimes gets carried away unneccessarily, that’s what may decide the match... I hope not.

I did not see the match vs Thiem, but based on the score I was assuming Rafa played very well. But today's Rafa is not very impressive. Was Rafa much better yesterday, or was Thiem just pathetic?

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Monte Carlo 2018
Rafa is close to his best. His shots are quite deep from both sides.
Just that Dimi is quickk on his feet and all his effort he has made over the recent years in keeping fit with the 3 RRunners is paying off....
But watch him choke now that he had to serve to stay in the set.

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Monte Carlo 2018
This Rafa is beatable. But who will beat him? Zverev and Thiem are possibly the next best clay courters and he already beat both of them easily this season.
Delpo is playing well, but I think Rafa will find a way to exploit his BH.
Nishi maybe? But how well will he be playing just back from injury?

So on clasy we can expect 1 good set from other players, then they give up to Nadal.

One good set in good cases. More likely no good sets. Like Thiem yesterday or Zverev in DC.Jahu wrote:So on clasy we can expect 1 good set from other players, then they give up to Nadal.

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Monte Carlo 2018
I read that Zverev spat at his “fellow” countryman Struff the other day.
Total peasant.
Nishi should beat him.
Of all players he looked best to me this week to make Nadal run.
If only he was a little taller....

I hope Nishi wins because I do not see how Zverev will beat Rafa tomorrow. They will both be behind the baseline but only Rafa will be making no errors. Nishi at least tries to take the initiative.

There are what, 7.5 billion people in the world? Many play tennis, and this is the best that we can find against Rafa?
I have this hunch that Amri will be back on June 10th.

Yes, he’s got a great combo: fast legs quick hands...
