For once I think she may have a point. I don;t think it is to do with the quality of tennis analysis as much as charisma. McEnroe has certainly more market value in that respect and nothing can help it.
It's like women fashion model being paid more than others (and almost always than men's model) cause they are simply prettier and have more market value.
However the BBC who tries to sell us that equality for all seems to be the last to apply it.

She has no point at all. This is an entertainment business and she is boring, has a dreadful voice for broadcasting, lacks any of Mac's entertainment value and is generally worth probably somewhere around 10% of Mac as a broadcaster.

Yes but as I said the BBC are the first to push that PCness at every corner. If they were not trying to do so, I'd have no problem but they are hypocrits, obviously.

I think Jmac is overrated as a pundit but probs brings in the viewers as he is "funny."

Mac has said too many contradictory things to be really valuable as a serious analyst, but he's still OK in the commentary booth and on any view he's way more entertaining than Navratilova. It's odd because with her experience she has potential to be fantastic. Her speaking tone is painfully flat and you'd think training could address that - then she needs to find a way of making her point interestingly.

They are grotesque hypocrites. Take for example how they bleat endlessly about the evils of tax avoidance but have been running a complete racket for years via personal services contracts that has now come unstuck. Their executives won't come to Parliament to answer questions - anyone else played that game and they'd go on about it endlessly.Tenez wrote:Yes but as I said the BBC are the first to push that PCness at every corner. The sooner the BBC is exposed to market forces the better.

Yes, she needs to learn how not to be boring, like I need to learn how to run the 100m in 11 seconds.barrystar wrote:Mac has said too many contradictory things to be really valuable as a serious analyst, but he's still OK in the commentary booth and on any view he's way more entertaining than Navratilova. It just doesn't happen for many. Jimmy Connors was awful, doing his "mmmmm" through rallies and making boring points. Frew McMillan is a genius at commentary but as he's about 108 nobody outside the fans knows he was a player. Boris is a joke. Castle is.... Pat Cash has nothing useful to say.
Mac is entertaining even though he contradicts himself on a daily basis. He's easily the most marketable commentator, Martina is one of the least.

lol BBC exposes the fraudulent claims of 'gender wage gap' - the fraud it itself pushes for all the time.
