ATP Matches of the day: Shanghai 2012: (Monday) Day 2

Shanghai Rolex Masters starts today, and the field this year is very a Masters-like. Murray is the 2 time defending champion here. Federer is coming from his break and Djokovic comes with a Beijing title in his hand. Its going to be very interesting Year End #1 race.

The third edition of the prediction game starts from tomorrow. The old point scoring system had its flaws and didn't leave the game very interesting in terms of scoring good point for important matched involving higher ranked players and later rounds. So I've tried to correct it.

Rule:
1. The points will be awarded as per the seed of the player and your prediction coming right. For an unseeded player, its value will be 17 ( since 16 seeds in the masters).

2. If a match is involved where the seeding ranks of both players are lesser or equal to 8, their values will be increased by 8 points.

3. If a match is involved where the seeding ranks of both players are lesser or equal to 4, their values will be increased by 12 points.

2. If a match is involved where the seeding ranks of both players are lesser or equal to 2, their values will be increased by 16 points.

Example:

1. Federer[1] vs Zhang[17] . Predict Fed to win and he does, you get 1 point. But if he loses, you get -17. Predict Zhang to win and he wins, you get 17 points. If he loses, you get -1.


2. Murray[3] vs Isner[8]. For this match their values will be increased by 8 points. So the new values will be : Murray[11] vs Isner[16]

3. Djokovic[2] vs Berdych[4]. For this match their values will be increased by 12 points. So the new values will be:
Djokovic[14] vs Berdych[16]

4. Djokovic[2] vs Federer[1]. For this match their values will be increased by 16 points. So the new values will be:
Djokovic[18] vs Federer[17]


This point scoring system allows almost all matches to be high scoring unlike the old one where a [1] vs [2] final could only fetch maximum 2 points for making such a difficult prediction.
