The score looked close.
Saw highlights. Simply experience won out in the end. When you consider he was losing to Edmund at the DC in February at home and then putting him to sword in June.
Can see him continue in his upward curve.

If Fed serves well, he'll be fine. He's played better and better every match.Tenez wrote:We will make Federer run, hammer his BH and return better.... wrote:Why do you think so?
I thnik Fed is so repulsed by him, he'll want to thrash him.
The ball is lively though, so his returning was not as good.
But even if it comes to TB, we know who's the king of them.
I probably want him to beat Zverev more than he does

Based on what I've seen Zverev is clear favourite, Federer has been poor throughout.

Re: Canadian Masters 1000
Yup. Agreed. Zverev will be a little nervy given his last encounter with Fed, but Fed hasn't played near his best the entire time and Zverev looks like he means business. He was always going to be the big stumbling block this tournament. Still, it's a final and he may up his game like all champs do. No way to predict the winner. Shap was done by lack of experience, which I think most would have predicted before the match. But at 18... what a talent and potential.

The player who has won the most matches after winning the deciding set?
.......... Nishikori!!
Haha, well that's not really a meaningful stat - esp given it will be based on a very small sample. Nishikori retiring or ducking matches has passed 20... with Fed on 1 at 36 years of age. I think that's way more telling.

yes apparently. It can only be a physical problem to me....most likely his back.
I know most don't want to see it but reading his interviews, the problem seems to be his serve.....and clearly from what I saw today, he is not hitting the spots as he usually can.

He is either rusty (which he is not)
or has a physical problem. (and that doesn't mean he ineeds to walk on crutches).
It can be a sore shoulder...
Anyway...stg's def odd, he is standing quite far back on receiving for his standards.

Fed struggling to control the ball, just pushing it back, now that is very strange.
For some reason he is not loose.

Had no injury there and just got outhit vs Tsonga in the final.

Because Fed can't possibly lose to someone playing better than him? Give over. Every player loses or has bad form. Nothing to do with the back. This was entirely predictable and was predicted to happen. Only shame is I didn't take the 5/2 Zverev that the bookies were offering. Still, Fed may come back. Never know!

No, that would have no bearing on the rest of the garbage. Chips floating, backhand in the bet continuously, etc. He is serving poorly though.Tenez wrote:bogbrush wrote:He's played like this all week, absolutely rubbish.

He's just been for whatever reason very poor. The conditions have been blowy and messy but same for both guys.

It's not about injury, it's about being stiff after 5 matches in a row! Tsonga has no weapon to outhit Federer on form.luvsports! wrote:Tenez wrote:5 off days in a row?luvsports! wrote:For me, off day.

Can you believe that you think Federer is always going to beat Zverev. He's proving you wrong - whether you like it or not. He is a born winner.

Except he used to be far better than he is now - and Tsonga smashed him at Wimb from 2 sets down.

Also, maybe Tenez and NITB seem to have missed the point that Zverev is 6 feet 6. A huge wingspan and serve. Never going to be easy to beat this guy when he's playing well. And he's 20. Going to get better in the next year or three. A lot better.

Poor serving and everything else has a number of causes. Loss of form can happen to any player. you have no idea if his back is acting up and even if it were, it's tough luck. That's life. That's tennis. There are NO EXCUSES.

Zverev is serving brilliantly and is 6 feet 6... so that's unlikely to happen.

That is one of the reasons for a loss. That isn't the reason today. He's just not feeling it - and that can happen. It doesn't even matter anyway. I'm actually pleased we are finally seeing a WINNER from the younger players. It's about time! Call him gutless all you like, NITB... you are gonna be seeing this guy lifting slam trophy after slam trophy.
