Nastase Banned Till 2019

"LONDON (AP) — Ilie Nastase has been banned from the Fed Cup and Davis Cup until 2019 because of his foul-mouthed comments and bad behavior as Romania's captain during a Fed Cup match against Britain.
In addition to the ban, the International Tennis Federation said on Friday the 1973 French Open champion will not be able to work in an official capacity for a further two years, until 2021.
The 71-year-old Nastase was also fined $10,000. He has three weeks to appeal the decision.
"Mr. Nastase made a comment about Serena Williams's unborn child that was highly inappropriate and racially insensitive," the ITF said.
Nastase also "made advances of a sexual nature towards Anne Keothavong, the captain of the Great Britain team" and "made abusive and threatening comments to the match officials and to members of the Great Britain team."
Although he will have to sit out ITF events, the ban does not apply to Grand Slam, ATP or WTA tournaments, which are not under the governing body's jurisdiction.
Nastase was provisionally suspended in April after he speculated about the skin color of the baby that Williams is expecting and for outbursts during a Fed Cup match between Romania and Britain.
He previously acknowledged making mistakes and having shortcomings, but stressed "the cause I fight for is tennis, the sport I really love, which I cannot separate from my life."
As Fed Cup captain, Nastase hurled abuse at British player Johanna Konta, Keothavong and the umpire. The referee ejected Nastase.
Nastase, a former top-ranked player, was barred from the French Open and was not invited to the Royal Box at Wimbledon, where he was a two-time finalist."

At least Naste lived his best years in the cool era when he could speak his mind and tell pretty girls they were pretty without being sent to prison by the short haired, tie-wearing lesbian police and/or precious anglosaxon women who all end up owning a dog as they are the only creatures they can boss and still be loved by.

Yep, what a terrible world we live in where calling women "fucking bitches" and making derogatory jokes about the colour of someone's child is frowned upon. 

There are many examples of PC being taken too far. This isn't one of them.

Konta's behaviour  in that Fed Cup match was terrible, she let her team down and couldn't cope with it, so had to throw a strop and cause all the mess.

It was her that should have been penalised, not frustrated Nastase.

Nitb, I hope you are not serious.  I hope you are just so frustrated with the PCness in society that as a knee-jerk reaction you are willing to defend things that are not really that defensible.  At least that way I could understand you a little bit.

But don't tell me you genuinely believe that what Nasty said to Konta was ok.  That is not a free speech issue.  Even assuming he was right on substance (I did not see it, so have no opinion on that) he could have expressed exactly the same opinion without talking like a thug.

You cannot just say "he was correct so ok to say it".  Kyrgios may have also been correct that Kokkinakis "did" Stan's gf, yet it does not make it ok to blurt it out in a match.

I really really hope that you defend Nasty (and some other similar stuff) out of frustration rather than out of genuine agreement.

If she was in the wrong and he retaliated, then I don't care.  Some people need telling. If he was the one being a git without reason, then he needs telling.  By sounds of it, she is a bitch. And she met her match (because he is a twat too). But because it's a woman, he's banned.  If it were the other way round, she wouldn't be banned. That's my problem with this.

However, his chocolate milk comment is clearly wrong. It will be dark choccy - which I love. 

Those that try whipping out the get out of jail free card of "freedom of speech" for insulting people really are retarded on unparalleled levels!

That';s the point... you shouldn't be in jail for that in the first place - insulting and offending are exactly the values that freedom of speech covers and for good reason.  That doesn't mean someone is right - nor wrong either. But plain insulting people in a professional place and so on is dealt with on the basis of "we can sack you / ban you" - same as if you abused someone in a pub or shopping centre.

All I give a toss about is that the rules are applied equally - and in this case they aren't being. Even though he is a nob by sounds of it.
