I was impressed until this game. Impressed by the way it makes it look easy and effortless. A bad game but again it essentially points to the impossibility of Federer to hit a proper BH.
It's going to be tough in the later rounds.

He's definely not flying.Veejay wrote:not impressed with the way federer is playing right now..
But that's the result ofthis year's ball.
He is having to work his points, isn't having much fun.
But he will see it through as he is such a fantastic match player.

Even before Federer got broken back, he wasn't playing great, missing a few passes he normally makes.
I still think it's a bit of nerves, he'll step it up when he needs to.

Well this ball probably harms Zverev even more than Federer, stop blaming everything Federer does wrong on conditions, you're sounding like Tenez... wrote:He's definely not flying.Veejay wrote:not impressed with the way federer is playing right now..

Federer at this level would be beaten by Nadal if they were to meet now.
Fed will get better though, and Nadal will lose to Cilic.

That would be very nice, yes (after he first loses to Muller) but - other than that one USO - Cilic has often flattered to deceive in the early rounds. He was progressing very nicely through RG draw too until Stan took him apart.DECIMA wrote:and Nadal will lose to Cilic.

Re: Wimbledon Day 6
I highly doubt he will lose to Muller, saw a bit of Muller's match against Bedene and he doesnt' have the serve return or the groundstrokes to pull of a win against Nadal in BO5, Nadal would have to seriously dip.summerblues wrote:That would be very nice, yes (after he first loses to Muller) but - other than that one USO - Cilic has often flattered to deceive in the early rounds. Cilic, I've watched all of his matches very carefully and done some deep analysis, and unfortunately it's not looking good for Nadal. The match patterns will be very very bad, Nadal's serve will be straight into the Cilic hitting zone, it will be hammered. Cilic on serve, if Nadal can get it to a rally he will do well, but Cilic hits so many big serves.

Fed is lookng very good.
He is strong and healthy and striking the ball well.
Match vs Dimi will grow his confidence and he'll be ready to roar.

Re: Wimbledon Day 6
I can write it down if you want, it's nothing particularly 'unknown' or special analysis, those who understand tennis will probably tell me I'm saying things they already know.
Nadal Cilic match patterns:
Cilic Serve-
Cilic on average will probably serve 2 unreturnables every 4-5 points. On Cilic's second serve, Nadal will win a greater percentage of points on serves to his backhand rather than his forehand. Nadal's second serve forehand returns will bounce into hitting zone, put Cilic in charge of the point, and the only way to trouble Cilic is to move him around.
Nadal serve-
The most effective serve for Nadal to use will be the body serve, after which Nadal should try and move Cilic around and dictate without taking unnecessary risks. Cilic is actually an excellent returner of first serves for his size, but he does best actually when moving sideways to return serve, he generates a lot of power. Won't be able to do that if a body serve, I expect Nadal to hopefully pick up on that and use body serve more as matches goes on.
As for Nadal's second serve, the fact Nadal is a lefty and it's swinging into the Cilic backhand should help him, but it's still a pretty weak shot, and I expect Cilic to punish it and dominate with comfortably 50%+ of points there.
Other than that, I think Nadal will probably go through good spells and bad spells, even though he's playing well his play is still patchy compared to in his prime. When he's going through a bad patch, he will probably try and take the FH DTL more and miss a lot. That will prove very costly for Nadal, as Cilic will not drop serve too many times.
Overall I see Cilic winning in 4 sets, breaking Nadal atleast once a set.
However, if Nadal does get past Cilic, I see him as joint favourite for the title; in fact I see Cilic has a bigger threat than Murray in terms of Nadal reaching the final.

If you think about it, it would be very easy to speed the game again. It just needs a bit of rain and then the ground gets softer and bounce gets lower.
Maybe that's teh plan for week 2.

Easy enough win. Dimi should be trickier. I thought he looked pretty good this morning. Still, one would hope Fed will win. In any event, if he cannot beat Dimi, he is not playing well enough to have had a chance in later rounds anyway.

How was Fed guys? Been helping a friend to move to a "non-refugee" area house so could not watch, can he beat that Djoko prick or not? Dimi will fold in 3, no worris there.

Funny, but to me Nadal always plays im the same "spell".
His game is "spell" proof.
He is a good returner and that's my only worry as Cilic's game depends heavily on his serve, similar to Tsonga...that's why he chokes so much.
But we'll see.
At least Cilic has a hope.

And he'll earn £2.2 mil.and pay not tax.
And Anabel will interview him and give him his best smile!
After that Serena will five birth to tripets. Just because she is more equal than Fed who can only have twins.
Murray will of course have another girl and call her Anabel.

1. Nole is not winning W.
2. Nole will pay tax, as earning are earned in UK and are subject to UK tax of no less then 50%, HMRC needs money to keep Vee and his friends on Income support
3. Interview and doing her, are 2 different things
4. Hope one of those tripplets in line are with Vee, to shut him up
5. No body needs 2 girls, I mean many have them, but no daddy wants a girl after a girl, sure will say "just let it be healthy", but deep inside him he wanted a son
6. Pretty poor councilor you are, but thanks for the effort

On a given day. And he probably didn't put everything into that match... because a Slam is right around the corner. Don't you think that would be more important? You really are clueless about how sport works, aren't you? You judge ATP 500 1000 and Slams the same... and think Dimitrov is some push over that should have no chance. That isn't reality. On any given day, Dimitrov can beat this Federer.
But, don't worry.... should that happen, you can blame scheduling, Fed's back, doping, weather, the surface. Rather than just say "I WAS WRONG." Fed is still favourite to win, but you make it out as if Dimi is some loser who plays like bambi on ice.
