Llayani is loving his job!
He'd do a couple of cartwheels on that grass now if he could!

Re: Wimbledon Day 2
I did not see Murray so do not know how he played. Still, that is quite different. There are plenty of players who have zero chance of winning. Andy is still playing better than good many of them, so he belongs in the field.Tenez wrote:I agree it's frustrating. But then again, Murray should not play either if you think about it. Injured as he is he has 0 chances of winning.

Both players play so quick - this should be done in 90 mins.

Funny when a player manages to make Fed look slow, amd Dolgo is one of the very few.

Dolgopolov is a good player but he Dolgopolopolov is not good enough to beat Federer. I reckon Fed beats Dolgopolopolopolov is str8 sets.

My dad is crediting Mirka for Fed's success.
He said she watches him from the box like a policeman, no mucking about!

I have just dpsadly realised that even Dolgo is just a basher.
He enjoys striking the ball more than playing the game.

Re: Wimbledon Day 2
Dolgo may not be a pushover but Fed may well push him over anyway.
Some of Fed's FH returns suggest he is already getting used to the bounce.
So far so good.

Again, it would have been better if a qualifier had played instead. So silly.

Re: Wimbledon Day 2
Great news for Fed that. He turned up in top form, and the fact Dolgopolov has retired means more rest time now. On his day, he can be a real banana skin - but in the end it's turned out OK!
And I agree, Summerblues.

Yes I saw that and 74 in the world!..
Frankly he lacks experience and match play still. He should have won in 3. He was 4/2 up in the first set with balls for double break.

Re: Wimbledon Day 2
Dolgo certainly rushed Federer quite a lit, often getting the first strike in.
Federers serve was very smooth looking.
Centre Court crowd seriously short changed by these retirements, I'd be very unhappy if I'd paid debenture prices for that.

That's fantastic!
It will mean so much to him. He needs these experience building matches badly now.
I don't even know where in the draw he is but from memory he's got a beatable opponent in the next round.

I was actually not impressed by Federer's mouvement. He looked he was walking on eggs. I hope it was more about being cautious than anything else.

Well, that's only his 5th or 6th match since Miami.
Plus Dolgo is not the player to give him much flow.

Re: Wimbledon Day 2
I noticed too. My read was that he wanted to make sure he did not slip and unnecessarily injure himself. He was always going to comfortably win today anyway.Tenez wrote:I was actually not impressed by Federer's mouvement. He looked he was walking on eggs.

The Court is always slippy early on. I wouldn't be concerned.

solid match and win by thiem, definitely looks like he is improving and feeling more comfortable on grass
such a disciplined humble guy, kyrgos could certainly take a leaf from his book
shame that the match had to end on a double fault

lopez becomes the 7th male player to retire due to injury in the 1st round!
the last 2 u.s opens had similar sorts of numbers of retirement
is the season too tough on these guys?

Another mental midget in a long line of mental midgets. And another cheating cunt to go with it. He isn't even arsed about admitting it. What's going on in this sport?

He also has a reputation for throwing in the towel, which has earned him the nickname ‘Tomic the Tank Engine’.

i remember the one match at the AO where everyone tipped him to dethrone federer, sort of the same way federer dethroned smapras at wimbledon
roger gave him quite a spanking

Sure. But it is sad in a way as he had a huge potential. If anything he has a bit too much talent. It s easier to work hard when that s your only option a la Murray Nadal and Djokovic.

Re: Wimbledon Day 2
I think it's possible. I'm not sure who in the draw would be a clear favourite against her. She beat both Ostapenko and Kerber at Eastbourne. If she gets past Vekic (very tough draw for her given she lost to her in the Nottingham final) I think she's got a decent shot.Veejay wrote:does anyone think that jo konta could win wimbledon?

she certainly has the game to beat the top players and seems to deal with the pressure quite wellSlippy wrote:I think it's possible.
