Barcelona 2017
Has Djoko pulled out of the draw? Clearly his elbow is still hurting him.....or something.
Here is the draw:

Kei has pulled out and Raonic is still injured.
With Murray and Djokovic out of form, Stan well being Stan. The field needs to strike now!
C'mon anyone. Goff, Dimi, Thiem, Kyrgios. Someone.

Don't think he was.
Interestingly his former DC coach he speaks with Federer to help with advice on regaining some form.

I am afraid only God can help Nole to get out of his current hole.

Good to see Chung in Europe and winning.
I just realised Sharapova is returning to courts this week in Stuttgart vs Vinci.
Well, I usually don't follow WTA, but this one will be interesting!

Chung-A.Zverev, curious to see how this one goes!
Pouille-Vesely, not that curious but another "young&future" match-up

Yes...cinsidering Zverev does not seem on form or not to confident on clay.

Well, at least we get to see where he's at.
To me Chung is player who plays tennis like he is playing with a Rubic cube.

Well, that's how I see him, a bit of a techno magician...someone whose forehand cracks the opponent's game in an obscure way.
It looks simple on the outside, je sorts you out before you know it.

Yes, very easy FH.
And not miles behind the base line like Zverev.

It's depressing to see a young, tall player like Zverev grind.

Not watching unfortunately....but can easily imagine. It's all about containing....but it s going to work less and less with time.

He reminds me both of Murray and Nole.Tenez wrote:Not watching unfortunately....but can easily imagine. It's all about containing....but it s going to work less and less with time.
When he is grinding he is like Murray and when he is trying to be aggressive but not good enough for it - of Nole.
Chung on the other hand is refreshingly natural as a player.
Lots of DTL shots.

They are playing on some side courts, barely anyone watching, just like in their junior days.

Talking about naming courts the name of players. Barcelona has name its CC "Pista R Nadal".
Not very nice for players facing him. They coudl have waited until he retires.

I saw that...yes they could have waited.
Just like he likes to make opponents wait between the points.

I like his serve.
And this, "I was just walking by and picked up a racquet to try this game...and I like it" vibe he gives off.

Even now at 5:6 being a bit gutless.
Probably just lack of experience.

Not impressed by him.
Agree with NITB - he is gutless. No weapons. Just keeping the ball in play. Mind you I've only been watching from the beginning of set 2. Presumably he was better in set 1.

Re: Barcelona 2017
Chung is not gutless, just was in a few points. And has a very good FH.
He is totally spent, that's why he is struggling a bit in the 2nd set.
Having said that - so is Nadal...can't wait for him to bump into Nole.

If he's totally spent after one set then he needs to get a new job.

You cannot be more wrong and he is going to prove it in the coming months.

Admittedly I've seen very little of him so you may be right. We shall see.

I hope he is a damn good player. Quite frankly sick and tired of the dross on the tour at the moment.

he hardly travels and play but last year before injury he was ranked 50...at 19. He crushed Zverev yesterday and held his own v Nadal having even a break up. in that first set.

Re: Barcelona 2017
I knew of him as a rising star from last year or maybe the year before but then he seemed to stagnate in the rankings but I suppose the injury didn't help in that regard.
I didn't know he'd already beaten Zverev in Barca and like you said taking Nadal to a tie break on clay is no mean feat. So perhaps I was a bit quick to form judgement.

Can Thiem beat Murray today?
I don't know their h2h.
It's one of those matches that could make a difference...maybe.

Re: Barcelona 2017
Thiem should win today. Murray's elbow still looks a bit suspect to me and the long match yesterday will hurt him. I reckon 62 46 64. Hopefully, he can give Rafa a good match in the final as well.

Thiem has been disappointing this year. Not kicked on at all.
I would not be surprised if he lost. Hope he wins though.

Any talk of injuries should be banned in this forum, you're on the court, you're healthy.
See now Andy's elbow kicking ass and wins him second set.

Another 500 points for Nadal, he's piling up on.
