This 5 setter don't think it was too hard on Fed, last 3 sets were pretty quick.

What a final would be Fed=Stan or Fed-Dimi.

Stan or Nadal are the biggest threats to stopping Fed.  Should he reach the final against Raonic... I'd put him favourite narrowly.

Not as serious as it seems.  Murray is a pusher. Zverev took the game to him and took his time away.  Federer plays the the attacking tennis and is great at passing shots with the ball early.  I'd be surprised if Zverev mounted any real challenge.  He was a bad match up for Murray.  Plus Murray was snarling and whining - and his serve isn't Federer's.

It's looking very open for Nadal. Monfils is an idiot and can never hold it together. Ok, Raonic is there but I'm not convinced by him at all, and I'd back Nadal to beat Thiem.

You are getting nervy for no solid reason. Nadal will have flashbacks of Fognini/Pouille stopping him from making the final. He is done making GS finals.

Let's be honest, Nadal has been handed the cake walk draw compared to Fed... who at least got away with Murray.

Based on what I'm seeing Federer will make Zverev far more uncomfortable in rallies.

On MTO's personally I think they're ok but somehow it's got to be prevented for condition. Closer attention to the nature of the treatment and cooperation of the trainers would help.

MTO are needed but these days we see certain players abuse them

Nishi is a repeat offender, he can't get benefit of doubt. In 2016 Rogers cup against Ndaal Nishikori took a bathroom break and held the match for over 10 mins.

This is another loophole being extracted by cunning player and their coaches. The bathroom break is is potentially worse than MTO.

An MTO can only be for 3 mins, and fe more seconds. But bathroom break has no time limit.

So?  They still need to be outlawed.  And Fed has been done out of at least 2 slams by them. French Open with Nada [yeah, Nada] springs instantly to mind.

If it's too obvious the only right way to react is like the aussies did: they knew NAdal was cheating against Stan in 2014, and their respons was devastating for Nadal. I think it was a good lesson for Nadal.

I just watched a bit of Misha Murray. I can't quite see how even a tired Federer would lose to him.

he has a similar FH as Kachnakov or even to a lesser extend Tomic. A strange flick of the wrist with hardly any arm mouvement.

Unlike Murray I think Federer will move him around the court and will draw a few more UEs.

I don;t think it will be a very exhausting match for Federer but since he must knackered from today's match I expect a slow start again.

I think Fed's chance is that he will probably get 2 days rest before the final. So a big hurdle will be that match v Stan, trying to lose as little as energy then.

The stars need to align for him but looking his talent it's probably not the first time they have aligned for him.

That's how I see this quarter too.

I notice Thiem is out. Federer / Nadal starting to look a realistic possibility.

Don't worry about Nadal. Should they meet then Federer will blink for maybe a second or two and by then he will have dispatched Rafa with a couple of breadsticks and a bagel!

Only Stan stands between that final though; Raonic is hopeless, Goffin a lightweight and Dimitrov will never amount to anything.
