I think a good match from Mayer and Murray can fall today. Thei h2h is 2-0 Murray but Mayer if fit a playing well can beat him.

Yes, he is definitely not right physically, what a shame....no chance against Berdych without legs.

USO courts seem to suit Berd's ball-striking, if he gets his serve going, he could knock Murray out, replay of last year's QF minus that horrible wind they had to "play" in...

I was horribly wrong there. Mayer has nothing to beat Murray.

Stan vs Marcos did not disappoint. I was rooting for Wawrinka but at the end of that fourth set I found myself hoping it would go five.

Moved to court 17 now where Istomin just took a two set lead on Seppi. I really like this court - much smaller and not as popular so easy to find good seats, but they still schedule an occasional decent match here. Who knows, maybe Seppi can still turn it around...

I have not watched Murray today but saw a few points the other day and he looks scarily fit.
Murray has taken retreiving game to a new level, I was amazed at his ability to return balls with such ease and land them in all deep, they were not scrambling fluke shots at all.
Still, complete ugly anti-tennis, I hope Berd blows him off the court, Istomin could trouble him too if he has his day.
In fact, I'd love to see Dan Evans take him on, ideally next Wimbledon  

Just saw tomorrow's OOP, Federer again playing last match of the day session, must be his current preference.
Nadal playing first match in the evening session.

Serena with her poise and instinct is in a different league to Stephens who is nothing more than well drilled , athletic firepower.

After Istomin (and his surprising win, which made me happy) and a quick lunch, back on Armstrong. Timing worked out just nice - saw the last couple of games of Suarez-Navarro's win and now looking forward to some more SHBH action. Never saw either Haas or Youzhny live before, which makes it even more exciting.

It has cooled off significantly and some semiominous clouds are rolling in, with a bit of wind, but so far so good.

My only complaint is on my own stupidity, I bought Ashe tickets while all I needed was a grounds pass. Ashe line-up was very disappointing, but who was to know....oh well.

Ah, just noticed there is a ladies' match on Armstrong after Haas (Aggie vs Makarova). I do not watch ladies' tennis much these days but I may as well stay for that one, so still plenty of action left. Could be another 6 hours

I do the same at Wimbledon....I usually much prefer to walk the ground and see matches from very close range....unless I have tickets for Federer on CC of course.

The ticketing seems so much simpler in New York than Wimpeldone.

After a pretty good day, Haas vs Youzhny disappointing so far. Haas misfiring a lot and Youzhny not doing much, mostly keeping it tidy and waiting for Tommy to self-destruct.

Never been to Wimbledon (yet?) so cannot compare ticketing firsthand but have some friends who lived in London and they are also saying Wimbledon is much harder. Here you can officially get resold tickets. They tend to be above face value but if you are happy with upper level seats you will not have to break the bank.

But presumably grounds pass should be easy for Wimbledon too?

In the meantime, Tommy has come alive so maybe I wrote this match off too quick.

Nice and easy it was, a warm-up session for Nole  
I have no idea how this Sousa made it to the 3rd round.

Our day is slowly winding down. Makarova to serve for the match. Can Aggie prolong the night?

No she cannot. And we are done here. Funnily enough the night session over on Ashe concluded about two minutes earlier with Li Na advancing to the QF. So really all done for the day. It was fun, one of my best USO experiences.
