But it's very different than Wimbledon. He may win a set but I cannot see him through in such slow conditions. Even his best shots are returned. Conds simply don't suit him.

Aye, but if your Andy how much will the failed conversion on BP's affect him. Some of it can be in the mind. Especially with Murray more than most.

Tis very true. Look at Wimbledon. Murray romped the first set and in the 2nd couldn't convert the BP's and Federer pounced like a panther on the opportunity and the rest they say is history.
You can't compare this to Wimbledon indoors.

Murray set -1 with a Service winner. Fed needs to get his act fast.

The match turner was that 2nd set which wasn't indoors.

Indoors? To much fuss is made out of this indoors thing I believe. The first 2 sets were played outdoors. Still the indoor doesn't make such a vital change as to clearly start favouring one. It wasn't even a windy day.

euhm, as a fed fan i would like to confirm that but Fed was under pressure in that second set too. The break at the end of that set came out of nowhere (a typical 5 minutes of brilliance of Fed at the very right time). The real turnaround came when the roof closed.

As a Murray fan the 2nd set being lost turned the match entirely. Similar to the missed FH against Nadal in the 2nd on BP in semi the year before. If Murray could've taken the 2nd set to a TB the match might have ended differently. To me the roof had little impact in momentum shift in that match. Federer producing 2 magic points from nowehere turned that match.

But turnaround was not because of the roof.

Fed´s game is limited from his back. If Murray is not able to win it, then he is hopeless mental case. I must laugh at Andy´s dodgedness when he wants to retrieve shots which are definitely lost.

Yes, that's why he's where he is. Always been like that, still not relaxed with himself, still has stg to prove...paulcz wrote:Fed´s game is limited from his back. Does Murray carry 4pound weights around his ankles during his matches, too or just during his training?

I honestly don't know. Given his right ankle only has one ligament left, I would be surprised if he would risk applying more weight. When his career finishes I would be amazed if he could walk without problems as I understand it many former NBA pro's who wore ankle supports weaken their ankles to the point they were like glass and injured with ease.

Murray has to keep his focus 100% all the time if he wants to win this. Formidable task.

yes, his service motion is technically very compact, the toss is low and he leans into it with ease. Fed needs to turn his forehand on a bit at this stage of the match.
Murray needs to start feeling the pressure. Nole is very good at doing that to him.

Actually, Murray needs to keep this match where it is now, it's Fed who needs to do something special. Of course he's more able to do something special than anybody else but he needs a fit and loose body, and that's the uncertain part.

The thing is all those good hands and great shots can be done because of those amazing pair of wheels, huge upper boody and absurd guns.
I find it annoying that commentators do not talk about it as the main reason why a guy like Murray can look so good. He is everywhere with time to spare.

So now despite all his power, speed and "soft hands"...let see whether Murray can keep his cool when serving to stay in the set. The mind is going to be tested there. Expect very hard first serves.

Indeed. It's ok having the power and speed, but without a ice cold driver in his brain it is of no use.

Fed had chances that game, Murray was nervous indeed and played passive. I think he can't afford that if it gets to a TB
