Australian Open 2013: Matches of the day : Day 5 18-Jan-2013
The schedule of play is out for tomorrow. This half is beginning to look much more interesting.
1. Venus Williams (USA) [25]
v
Maria Sharapova (RUS) [2]
My pick: Venus
2. David Ferrer (ESP) [4]
v
Marcos Baghdatis (CYP) [28]
My pick: Ferrer makes these kind of grinding matches easily. Hence my pick
Kevin Anderson (RSA)
v
Fernando Verdasco (ESP) [22]
A rematch of the recent Hopman hopman cup where Anderson won in st. sets TB. My pick is Anderson is still going to win it tomorrow.
4. Jurgen Melzer (AUT) [26]
v
Tomas Berdych (CZE) [5]
My pick: Melzar
5. Julien Benneteau (FRA) [32]
v
Janko Tipsarevic (SRB) [8]
I'll go for Benn.
6. Sam Querrey (USA) [20]
v
Stanislas Wawrinka (SUI) [15]
Stan the man.

Owwwcccchhhhh. Some meaty matches there ROTLA.
Shreiker
Ferrer, though had Baggy not had a 5 set match in the bank I might have voted for him.
I will go with Nando.
Berdy to overcome Jurgen
Despite Tipsy's marathon with Lacko I think he will have too much for Benny. Tipsy for me.
Stan should come through Querrey.

Hopefully Na can win her match quickly, so I get to watch Nole before it gets too late here.

Radek keeping it close so far. Was worried he would lose the service game from 40-0 up.
You have the feeling that Nole will step it up towards the end of the set though.

I think you are right; Nole looks like he is just biding his time, waiting to pounce. He was lucky on that break point though.

Federer-Tomic on at 7pm; glad it is on the weekend. I do not expect Fed to be troubled, but will want to see it nonetheless.

Almagro beats JJ in 3 sets. JJ was spent having closely lost the first 2 in TBs.

I liked Skyfall. The competition in that genre is fierce so they had to make some choices. I think they made the right choices.
I can't make up an argument why the Connery sequence is better. My 10 year old son loved it, he walked around the house at least for 3 days after the movie pretending he was Bond.

I thought Mendes completely lost the plot. You wouldn't know that was a Bond film if you only watched vintage ones.
Shame. Craig was good as always. And that bad girl.

Skyfall is of all the bond movies the one with the best rating on imdb. Surely you don't have to agree with the "wisdom of the crowds" but 'completely lost the plot' is quite a contrast with that.
I actually think Mendes was true to the original. It's why this movie is better then the IM and Bourne movies: skyfall has a good combi of fast paced modern action and old Bond values.
