I essentially take side on style and frankly they are very similar in style.
Kvit is falling apart though.

Well, I really did enjoy that roller-coaster of a match.
Kvita's a bit worn down by pressure I think, needs to relax and start enjoying herself more as her tennis is so natural.

Yes well done for Robson. Happy for her. It's one of my fav player. Once she improves her mouvement and confidence, consistency will come along and it will be even more interesting.
Kvit had tired legs towards the end and was not bending her knees producing lots of UEs...but she should have never surrendered the 3/0 lead in the 3rd set. Lesson to be learnt.

Frankly, I think she's done.

I have heard of Hampton. She had a WC at the US Open last year IIRC. Didn't see any of her.

It's great to have 2 Brits into the 3rd round of a Slam.
I hope Robbo starts to win more supporters over. Eurosport have clued into the Watson/Robson interest and are showing all WTA events this year.
Sorry Andy, you shall have to play second fiddle to Robbo

Spot on from Federer and what I have been saying for ages. This ability to create angles more easily is what really makes the game so much more physical than it was before the synth strings. It has also killed SVing. It also means it's much easier to bring a ball back while one the move, even outside the trameline. In a way it's a real shame cause it has really made the game a very physical affair with much less room for talent....and in that respect Federer has done extremely well to do well in that new era....No other bar Ferrer the born moonballer has adapted as well as Fed with those new elements.Q. Do you feel stronger now?
ROGER FEDERER: I would hope I'm a better player today. But obviously things have changed around a lot: strings, racquets, court speed, opponents. Obviously, I came through in an era where I had to base my game against Sampras, Agassi, those kind of guys, and not the roadrunners. They came at the same time with me.

Courts were faster then. It was more absorbing, the pace and creating something with it. Now it's much different, much easier to find angles. So over time I had to adjust my game a little bit. I'm happy I was able to and find a way and be successful for a long period of time.

I also remember the time when I thought Fed's FH lost a lot of power and explosiveness (during 2007) and thought it dues to his new racquet, lack of confidence but already then, while at the very peak of his game he was changing it to play more like the new generation....naturally helped of course by the new sensations those strings were giving. I always wonder how he woudl have played with a larger and lighter frame too.

I can't believe he actually used the word "roadrunners", wow, the gloves are off, expect some sparks to fly off in Murray's next press conference!
As for " a little bit" I think it's a bit more than a little bit. He used to play real full-bodied, no nonsense tennis in the earlier days but even then looked graceful and very aesthetical compared to Sampras and Aggassi.
Now, he spends a lot more time on the base-line and his attacking has lost its original penetrative style, but compared to almost everyone he still has that unrestrained urge to move forward as soon as he can.
And in some ways, his game looks richer now, interesting how he evolved and I can't make my mind up which style I preferred. Probably the old one on hard courts and the new one on clay.

I had not even noticed!!! He is hilarious....but so right! once again.
Regarding his style, he is such a complete player. SOme of the volleys he played today would have made any of the past SVers proud.

And it makes a complete mockery of McEnroe's comment on Nadal being the better volleyer.

What impresses me is how competent and always perfectly positioned he is at the net. It's not the classic bang the serve in and rush forward like a bull style, but integral in the all-court style in the true sense of the word.Tenez wrote: I had not even noticed!!! Yes he plays as relaxed and cool as in the amateur era...in the toughest pro era. Absurd!

Yeah, Fed still very good, but...
I saw a big portion of his match with Davy and must unwillingly say there are symptoms that he will struggle against great BL hitters. His body is not as fast and flexible as he used to be, many balls are off the court due to his not as smooth swift of his upper body, just coming from not good his back. Fed must win all his matches as fast as he can, otherwise his swiftness will run out. But he still has fast legs and perfect hands, jus his back are hitch.
He looks quite worried, there is no joy in his face. I wish him best to get to the final. Tomic and Rao should not be a big trouble for him if he serves well.

You might be right about his back. I did not notice as his shots were still pretty good...and because the AO is pretty hot, he is I guess less likely to have back problems. He has a ridiculous tough draw though.
