Federer vs Haas 2009
Continuing the theme of Eurosports features, does anyone perhaps remember this match by any chance?
The forehand onto the line. OMG.

Yes I remember! And I remember in particular that Federer was winning 10 or 20% more points in the first sets than Haas...yet he managed to lose those sets. He was extremely unlucky.
And then came that FH......a bit of luck at last in that crucial moment.

Appatrently Nadal is not interested in going to the US to defend his USO title.

In the first set, Federer did not lose a single point on his serve until TB.
That one forehand probably gave him the single most important point in his career. More so than any other - even the ones he lost on MPs vs Nole.

Indeed. This is a fair point because he will not be alone and in a draw deprived of a proper field we will have something resembling the Australian Open of the early 1970's.Tenez wrote:Appatrently Nadal is not interested in going to the US to defend his USO title.
I had to laugh at Djokovic complaining that he can only take 1 of his gang. More levelling of the field. Probably can't take his egg chamber and doctor either.

God that match. I was so fatalistic about it after that 1st set when the guy could smash through 6 service games, then lose it, and then dominate the 2nd and lose that. When it came to that break point I thought that was that.summerblues wrote:In the first set, Federer did not lose a single point on his serve until TB.

The weird thing is that after that game he won 14-2. Up to that point Tommy was redlining it and it was working but after that moment - and an especially wild volley long at break point immediately after this Fed service game - it all seemed to go to script.
I'm sorry they didn't show the Del Potro semi-final too because that was a monster that I thought Federer was second best in that but he dragged himself through. I was a wreck by the end of that one.
