Not impressed with Schwartzman's subtle gamesmanship.

Disappointing end for Rubi who had a break in the fifth.

Got nervous towards the end and threw the match away with lack of belief.

With or without extra time between the points, this was an easy match for Nadal.
He surely does not miss easy balls like Benoit.

Paire never believed he could win this and lacked precious focus when he was ahead.

Not surprised, but still disappointed.

I'd love to know what he would've done differently.

When Paire had the BP to go 5:3 up in the second set I turned the TV on hoping for at least a close fight to finish the second set. I was hugely disappointed, Paire looked pathetic, I do not know how he made it to 4:3. He played a handful of ill-advised drop shots and he still does not have a FH.

I do not see anyone in Rafa's section who would give him trouble before QF at least.

Zverev in trouble here. I hope he loses if he continues playing near the stands.

Disappointing display by Zverev so far. Needs to take control of the rallies otherwise Verdasco will kick him out of the tournament.

Apart from being young and mildly successful, I don't see why people are excited about Zverev.

His game is so safe and dull.
Plus he fistpumps opponent's  UEs.

Nando may not have the most stable head,  but he's invented tennis for  this young wannabe.

The combination young/new and succes will always draw attention. 
I don't like his game, untill he starts to beat the roadrunners, even if he's a bit of a roadrunner himself.

I also do not like Zverev's game (I quite dislike it in fact) but he is 20 and doing well, so let's see where he gets with it.  I would not want him winning 10+ slams but if he can stop Nadal and Nole from winning more than they already have, I am all for it.

We discussed it before so I know you will disagree, but I just do not think he ever had that much potential.  Just because someone plays attacking tennis, it does not mean they have potential to do well.  Maybe they are just reckless.  That is the case with him, I think.  Just look at that forehand!  Even his BH is not all that good - he is nowhere near consistent enough with it - and never had been.

There are guys who have potential and waste it (Fognini, for example), but Paire never had that much potential to start with.

He's not going to peak well enough to beat Nadal in this form. The only time Djokovic was ever able to beat Nadal at the FO was in 2015 when Nadal was practically an invalid.

I don't think Paire is reckless, he plays instinctive tennis, his only problem may be he is not good (consistent) enough for it to be successful in current conditions.

What is the alternative?

To become A.Zverev...

well that was pretty crap from zverev...expected  him to do much better after winning rome
thought that he would cause a few upsets along the way,rather then turn out to be the upset in the 1st round

Djokovic and Wawrinka can kill him. People are running about like this is Nadal of years ago. It isn't. He isn't invincible and there are numerous players in the draw that can "cause an upset".  

If winning Slams was as easy as Nadal entering the event, he'd have 30 slams by now.
