Kurgios is gutless.

I think he can take Stan out as well (if Stan beats Goffin)
I need to see a bit more of this new confident Stan on grass, but I don't think Stan is as dangerous in it as on clay or slower hard.
Fed and maybe Murray are bigger challenges for Nole, esp if he has a tiring SF.
I am pretty sure we may have the repeat final kine up from last year.

I remember Wawrinka from last year's QF match and he was tough. He is a very uncomfortable match-up for Novak, presumably on any surface, but I guess we will see.

Yes if I were to bet on someone to take Djoko out, it woudl be Stan, not Gasquet...as much as I like him.

Re: Wimbledon Prediction Game: Day 7
Yes, I know media have been pumping that story, but Stan only beat Nole once properly (in AO)
He would have not beaten him in RG has Nole not been tired.
But they play have good matches now that Stan has fixed his FH.
Cilic is tougher for Nole on grass, but I've no idea who's in whose half of draw...

It's clear that the Murray match was schedule with the sun position in mind.

Murray looking a bit weird atm...Ivo sending him  bullets and not just in the form of serves.

Karlovic should not approach the net with those slices...Murray passes him with ease every time!
Just wasted a potential break point like that.

Matches vs. guys like Karlovic must be so frustrating. There's simply nothing anyone can do when he's found his rhythm on the serve.

But they are not easy under pressure....but of course...that's where this modern string technology helps hugely. Before 2000 Karlo woudl have been unstoppable at Wimbledon and USO. I think he would have had a very good chance on clay too.noleisthebest wrote:Karlovic should not approach the net with those slices...Murray passes him with ease every time!

Federer's latest on hawkeye:
"What I struggle with is I don't think it's 100 percent accurate. Let's say 99 percent, fine. It's still not 100 percent, in my opinion. I still see calls I don't quite understand.
But it's fine to have it... because you ... don't want to lose at Wimbledon because of one bad call or a missed call by someone. "What I don't understand is if we have Hawkeye, why do we keep playing in the nighttime when Hawkeye is not available anymore? That's where I disagree with supervisors or tournaments, that they push it too far every single time."
Didn't know it was unavailable in night matches...

Yes...and in this interview he also mentions how dark it was in 2008 final. I think he is still very annoyed with it...and understandably so.

Strange he had a relatively late start, being two years older than Fed.

What went through Murray's brain to be sending those loopy FHs right into Ivo's striking zone
Mind you, that was a pathetic BH volley from Karlovic...

If Ivo loses this set it he will only have himself to blame.
Looks like he isn't able to bend those knees...

Murray won't be winning Wimbledon serving like that. Works v Karlo but won't work v DJoko.noleisthebest wrote:What went through Murray's brain to be sending those loopy FHs right into Ivo's striking zone

Absolutely, I can't believe he won this set...more like Karlovic gifted it to him.
Unusually poor FH.
Very tense for obvious reasons, but more weaponless than ever.
He's reverting to trusting his BH only again I reckon.
What do you think?

Well he did not make many mistakes really. I thought he played well...just served badly.
Karlo was unlucky on that volley. I guess he did not expect his shot back.

Yes, but he missed many volleys...too many.
Just does not look sharp with them today, serve is keeping him alive only, although Murray broke him...

Do you think the ball bounces differently in this totally grass free patch around the middle of baseline as opposed along the  greener side/corner parts?

How differently, higher in the middle?
In week two when even the green grass loses its speed, would it just slow the ball down or bounce higher?

Murray's got to have his physical slump...although this was not that physical a match.
You can make money on him winning matches in 4 sets.

It woudl check in a bit more...but worse is that impossible to know how it woudl bounce differently....depending on whether it bumps into grass roots or not.noleisthebest wrote:Tenez wrote:Oh yes it would bounce very differently.

Funny how with Stan-Goffin you get nice tennis but it gets boring after a while where with Ivo-Murray boring tennis but plenty of thrill.

So in theory you could send deep balls down the middle and make the opponent nervous?

I'll never forget Olympic final in Wimbledon, the baseline was full of holes, visible from half way up the stands...you could sow potatoes in those grooves, I am serious!!!
