Djokovic played in Vienna last week. He was fully fit, no sign of any physical ailment. He got the number of points needed to guarantee he will finish the year ranked world number 1. After reaching the QF, he tanked, and basically admitted he tanked in the post match conference afterwards:

“Yes, clinching the [year-end] number one had an effect on me today,” Djokovic said.
“I’ve done what I came here for, securing the number one. And I move completely fine with today’s result."

The Vienna CEO commented that Djokovic's comments were inappropriate.

Why is Djokovic not playing Paris?
ATP has changed ranking point system due to pandemic. They will select Djokovic's best Paris performance out of 2019 and 2020. As Djokovic won Paris 2019, he can't gain any points from playing in 2020, even if he won.

He publicly stated that as justification for skipping Paris:

Did you read what I wrote? He literally admitted he tanked because he had already got YE#1. He won the matches before that without dropping a set.

Against Sonego he started taking the piss lol, one of the funniest displays I've seen on a tennis court. Would make Tomic proud.
